Deondrei Dior is a rapper/singer by way of the Bay Area via Chicago whose style is equal parts West Coast bravado and sensual R&B.
Songs like “Thotties” and “Handsome” are braggadocios bangers while “So You Say” and his newest single “Deja Vu” make you not want to spend Valentine’s Day alone.
Despite taking music seriously in 2017, music has always been a part of the young artist’s life, even before he was able to create his own.
“I wasn’t always someone who was ‘musically inclined’, you could say. I’ve just always loved music. I use songs as the soundtrack of my life, each period of my life dating back to when I was around 4th grade having its own music selection,” Dior explained.
Since then, the Chicago native has been able to create some amazing music in a very short amount of time. Just a year after starting, Dior released his debut project Thank You., an eight-track collection of mainly rap songs he looks fondly on to this day. However, this album would also mark a tragic period of his life.
“I was diagnosed with a disseminated disease, and while I’m perfectly fine and in good health now, I had surgeries and over two dozen hospital visits in 2018 when I dropped that project,” Dior stated.
However, he cites both this experience and the album as “life-changing” and since then has clung to a more melodic sound.
Looking towards the future, Deondrei Dior is slated to release a single called “Transparency” on Valentine’s Day and hopes to one day headline his own tour and collab with artists such as Drake, PartyNextDoor, Post Malone, and SZA, among others.
