Lil Baby reveals why he launched a $150,000 scholarship program at his old high school

Rapper Lil Baby recently visited his old alma mater, Booker T. Washington High School in Atlanta, to surprise students and perform a live rendition of his latest album My Turn.

In March of this year, the rapper announced that he would be launching a “My Turn Scholarship Fund,” to give back to the high school, where he donated $150,000.

Now, in celebration of Lil Baby’s My Turn (Deluxe) album that recently dropped, Amazon Music conducted an interview with the Atlanta-raised rapper about what it was like returning to his hometown and why he chose to give back to his community in the way that he did.

During the interview, Lil Baby revealed that his donation was part of his efforts to “pay it forward” forward to students at the school.

“I was one of those students who was like always smart, like, I made A’s and B’s, since I could remember,” Lil Baby said in the interview.

“When I left here, I didn’t ever think I’d come back.”
