“I love the freedom that being an artist gives me,” Danii’X told Remixd Mag. “The ability to create what I want, how I want, when I want, and then seeing people’s reactions to what they just heard.”
Danii’X is an independent artist who’s sound is a breath of fresh air. His newest project called “Last of Your Love” featuring Aqyila is a true modern-R&B love song that is about two people making a decision that’s best for them and their relationship.
In a recent interview with Remixd Mag, Danii’X said that in the song, the two have “both have been through quite a lot and wondering if love is enough to keep them together.”
Produced by WellingtonCTYT, “Last of Your Love” shows off Danii’X’s vocal range and versatile ability as an artist. The song is a harmonious combination that offers a soothing sound, and balance between Aqyla’s complimenting vocals.
Danii’X is originally from Trinidad and Tobago, but is currently based in Brampton, Ontario (Canada). He hopes that his music inspires his listeners to be vulnerable with their feelings and wear their hearts on their sleeves.
“I also want them to know that when if they can’t find the words to say in a moment, my music could be an outlet for them to express themselves,” he said.

Tell us about the moment when you decided to pursue a career in music.
I think once I realized that my soccer career wasn’t going to work out, I decided it was time to try something new. I never knew I was able to do, make music, or even rap. This came as a surprise to me even though I grew up being in recording studios because my dad was a gospel singer, so he would take me to the studio when I was just a baby. In 2013 while being in high school still, I recorded my verse song for fun and the reactions were really cool so I decided I would make a career out of it and start taking my music more seriously.
How would you describe your sound to readers who may not be familiar with you?
I would say that my sound is very open and real, I try to give my listeners a look on how I feel when I create songs but also create it in a way that they can relate to, or even put themselves in that position to understand what they are hearing. My sound tends to vary, it can be very forth-coming or it can be very dark … it ultimately depends on my mood at the time.
What ultimately inspired you to dedicate yourself to a music career?
I love the freedom that being an artist gives me. The ability to create what I want, how I want, when I want, and then seeing people’s reactions to what they just heard. Music is such an escape for me that deciding to make it a career was just a no-brainer. I would say the relaxation of making music is what inspired me to really just run with it.
What’s one reason you are passionate about music and what inspires you?
To pick one reason is so hard but I would have to say the way music makes me feel is why I’m so passionate about it. Music can change my mood in an instant — there aren’t many things in this world that can do that. Also my inspiration can come from anywhere; there is no one thing that inspires me. Conversations, walks in the park, sitting outside, watching a movie, listening to other artist … the list is long.
Who are some of your main musical influences?
Drake would be my number one musical influence, and after him there are my friends such as Francis Hill, Jay Nahge, Da Misfitt, Saugasson, RAY HMND, JayCI, Derin Falana, Raahiem, Ty-Rex, Cody James, there are so many artist that influence me and it’s mostly local talent rather than mainstream.
What are some of your music career goals for the future?
My goals are to be able to put my country on the map for something outside of the main genre, secondly be the first person in my family to be famous or even on a billboard, I want to be able to start my own label and put on artist that I believe truly deserve a spot in the industry, have features with some of my favorite artists, retire my mom, get a few plaques to hang in my moms house that would be pretty cool, get nominated for some awards, but most importantly reach a larger fan base and really show the world my talent. I have many goals once i actually make it in the industry but these are just a few from off the top of my head.
Tell us about your latest release, “Last Of Your Love” ft. Aqyila? What’s it about?
Right now I’m promoting my newest single “Last Of Your Love Feat. Aqyila” which was produced by WellingtonCTYT. The single is about two people who have been going back and forth with their love life not knowing what is the best decision to make for them and their relationship, and now the guy is wondering if this is the last of her love. They both have been through quite a lot and wondering if love is enough to keep them together. The last project I released was called The Old Me, and it was basically a playlist of songs that I had already released and deleted but I then put them all into one project and released it so my listeners could see the growth between songs.
What has the response been like to that project, The Old Me.
It was better than I thought it would be because it was a bunch of old songs that I put together, the people really seemed to enjoy those songs, some even said that the songs age well, which was amazing to hear back.
What’s next for you ? Are you working on any upcoming projects we should be on the lookout for? Include some dates if you have them.
Right about now I am currently working on my EP Colder In The Summer. I don’t have a release date for it just yet, I believe that when you put a date on an unfinished product you are then forced to rush the process and then it usually doesn’t turn out the way you want it, so I am just taking my time with this project so guys can enjoy it half as much as I enjoy creating it.
What message do you hope fans take away from your music?
I want fans to understand that it is okay to be open with your feelings and wear your heart on your sleeve, that it’s okay to be vulnerable sometimes. I also want them to know that when if they can’t find the words to say in a moment, my music could be an outlet for them to express themselves.
