LA-based duo Connor Caine and megan. drops their airy single “Honeydew”

Stream “Honeydew” by Connor Caine and megan., out now on all platforms.

R&B duo Connor Caine & megan. return with a new, alluring single. On the song, called “Honeydew,” the LA-based musicians find their rhythm and sing about memories of a strained romance.

“Honeydew” is the newest collaboration for the duo following the release of their jazz-tinged track “Sit Back.” While “Sit Back” serves as a groovy, smoke-sesh friendly song, “Honeydew” is a much moodier collab. The track banks on the two artists singing chops on the open instrumental melody, and given the challenge at hand — they don’t disappoint. Caine’s more rap influenced singing complements megan.’s floaty, distant-sounding vocals nicely. The duo serve as a harmonious team that delivers warm and peaceful vibes all the way through.

“Honeydew is that rollercoaster relationship – where you’re tossed between floating on stars, and getting sucked into the riptide. It’s about distance, slaps to the face, and the in between moments where thoughts and feelings lie,” Connor tells Remixd Magazine.
The two artists’ joint EP Luna is slated to release in mid-November and based on the first two tracks, this project is definitely going to be something to keep an eye out for.

What is your artist name? What is your real name? How did you get your artist name?My artist name is Pilly Mae. Pilly is actually a nickname from my real name, Pilar. And Mae is an acronym for my daily mantra: Meeting All Expectations. Although nowadays, I’d say that I’m succeeding all expectations.

At what point in your life did you decide to pursue a career in music?Music has been a passion my whole life. But I began to take it serious as a teen and decided to move to Florida.

Has your upbringing played a role in shaping who you are and defining your sound today? If so, how?Yes. I come from a musical family so it’s just in me. But I grew up in a strict household. So it really taught me how to carry myself, trust my sound, and have a solid work ethic.

How would you describe your sound to readers who may not be familiar with you?I would define my sound as “sexy hip hop.” Lol it’s women empowering, sexually liberating, upbeat and fun.

What ultimately inspired you to dedicate yourself to a music career?Aside from it being my passion, the experiences I’ve been through encouraged me to share my message and hope others can learn from it and find the confidence to pursue their dreams.

What’s one reason you are passionate about music and what inspires you?My passion for music comes from being a natural entertainer. I enjoying performing for people. People are their best when they’re happy and music makes us happy. I enjoy being apart of making others feel happy and confident in who they are. When I’m on stage, in my makeup and outfits, I feel like a superhero. I want to inspire others to dream big and be bold.

Do you have any hobbies outside of music? What do you do to stay creative?I’m a girl’s gal. I like shopping, being at home with the family, decorating my house, and traveling occasionally. I’m honestly a homebody. Aside from work, I’m at home.

Who are some of your main musical influences?Beyonce is one of my biggest inspirations. Rihanna, Ciara, Nicki Minaj. Big Sean, Jay-Z. I love greatness. And they inspire me to go hard.

What are some of your music career goals for the future? My main focus right now is to have a successful album and follow that up with a successful tour. But my lifelong goal is to make singles that are memorable. I wanna make one of those songs that comes on every year and they remember me. Like it creates that stamp in time. You remember that night out with your girl and my song came on. I wanna make HITS!

Tell us about your latest single “Like It, Like It.” What is it about? My newest project is my new single “Like It, Like it” that will be dropping soon. Nicely put, it’s pretty much a song about getting to the bag and not caring who doesn’t “like it like it.” It’ll be dropping this month and is following my last single, “Like A Flute” that was released earlier this year. “Like A Flute” was a fun song and the video complimented. It was chic and glamorous and fun.

What has the response been like to that project? The response to “Like a Flute” was really good. It was a Tik Tok sensation. It received the highest views to date that I’ve had on any video. A lot of people really like it. And I’m hoping to continue that momentum with “Like It, Like It” this month.

What are some projects you’ve done in the past that you are most proud of and why?I’m most proud of my freestyle videos. That’s what got me on the map. That was a great l time for me in my beginning phase as an artist. But I’m really looking forward to the future and my next phase with my new project.

What’s next for you? Are you working on any upcoming projects we should be on the lookout for? Include some dates if you have them.I’ll be dropping a mixtape soon. Right now with all, that’s going on with the world, I’m focused on writing, creating, and preparing. When the world reaches a new normal, Pilly Mae and her team will definitely be ready.

What message do you hope fans take away from your music?I want fans to feel empowered and sexy after they hear my music. Like they can take on anything but from a place of love. Like they can take over the f–king world for good of course.

Where can we follow you on social media?PillyMae on everything except Twitter. It’s Pilly_Mae.
