Daud “King” Carter offers perspective on importance behind artist development

Daud “King” Carter’s imprint Social Currency Enterprises is focused on the future, highlighting the importance of artist development and consistency. After Billboard announced the North Carolina-based label’s new partnership with EMPIRE, the spotlight on the Carolina’s mushrooming music scene was amplified to a new level. Since his inception as an executive, Daud Carter has managed to play a key role in South Coast Music Group’s meteoric rise in rap. Honing in on a grassroots approach to help accentuate the benefits of collaboration, Social Currency is all about paying it forward by empowering others. This revamped outlook on building rapport organically and not cutting corners has labored into a domino effect of momentum. More importantly, SCE is catering to the interest of its artists first, putting relationships before dollars. Artist development has become a lost art in the entertainment industry. Daud Carter’s keen eye for talent has brought attention back to the simplistic nature of pure likeability. Whether it’s DaBaby’s genre-defying career run in music or Blacc Zacc’s awe-inspiring come up story, Carter is hellbent on paying attention to the details, being consistent in his efforts to develop the next big talent. ZayTheGOAT, Littlejohn4K, Tianis Rose and Young Sunny Boy are SCE’s quartet of budding stars on the rise.

At this stage in his career, Daud “King” Carter is primed to redefine what exactly it means to lead a full-service entertainment company. Social Currency isn’t just a music label, it’s a resource of information for new and established creatives alike. With support from Carter and his co-partners’ Kia Clarke, Sport E. Odie, and Ryan “Rev” Miller, SCE is destined to create impact beyond mere tonal influence.

Kodak Black is the newest rapper to endorse Donald Trump for president

Florida rapper Kodak Black is the latest in a string of rappers to endorse Donald Trump for a second term as president. The 10+ time RIAA platinum-selling emcee took to Twitter and stated that he supported Trump’s “Platinum Plan,” a program aimed to boost economic growth in Black communities, among other things. However, Kodak is far from the only rapper to support the 45th president’s re-election.

Lil Wayne met with President Trump on October 30th and also endorsed the “Platinum Plan.” Weezy took to Twitter, saying “the platinum plan is going to give the community real ownership. He listened to what we had to say today and assured he will and can get it done.”

Fellow Floridian Lil Pump and “Candy Shop” rapper 50 Cent are also among the celebrity rappers who have taken to social media recently to show their support for Trump. Both rappers’ public endorsements of Trump began after democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden unveiled a tax plan that will raise taxes for those making above $400k a year.

Election day this year is Tuesday, November 3.

Roddy Ricch immortalizes Nipsey Hussle with new chain

It’s no secret that Roddy Ricch and the late Nipsey Hussle were super close. Before blowing up off of his single “Die Young,” Roddy dropped his debut mixtape Feed Tha Streets, a body of work that would seriously impress Hussle and help foster a close friendship between the two rappers.

Fast-forwarding two years later, the two would release their first and last collab before Hussle’s untimely death. Their track,”Racks in the Middle,” would go on to get certified RIAA platinum and win Best Rap Performance at the 2020 Grammy Awards.

Since dropping “Racks in the Middle,” the Compton rapper has paid homage to the late rapper with a song called “Letter To Nipsey” off of his critically acclaimed album Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial and a new custom chain.

The Elliot Eliantte designed chain features a picture of Nipsey placed in an iced out pendant with diamond-encrusted thorns wrapping around the picture.

Anweezy releases “Chill Down” single

Virginia producer Anweezy releases “Chill Down” featuring South Korean rising star Sangstaa. As this rising hitmaker is showing his diversity as a producer, he is on track to have the biggest year of his music career. This release show off a softer side to his creativity allowing him to tap in with a different array of music listeners.

The melodic production is a perfect pairing with Sangstaa’s angelic vocals. As Anweezy normally produces high energy filled singles, this release is more of a mellow, sultry R&B track that provides a calming listening experience. The soulful melody shows the downsides of being in love when you’re not understood or heard in a relationship. Sangstaa’s raw vulnerability is super refreshing. As he recounts a story in which a love interest asked him if he could “slow down” in the relationship, the name of this song is fitting.
