Kevin Kartier drops impressive new EP ‘Mississippi Mudd’

Kevin Kartier (@KevinKartier) grabs some of Mississippi’s finest to create his new EP, Mississippi Mudd. The new project is jam-packed with impressive features from some 3rd coast underground kings. The project opens up with a chilling verse from former Capitol Records signee, Tito Lopez. His name has been buzzing on all of the blogs as of late. His 2013 verse from the recent Jay-Z and Nipsey Hussle collaboration was discovered once the original version of “What It Feels Like” surfaced. Kevin & fellow MS rapper Tito traded impactful verses on the EP opener “Now.” The project also features guest spots from Richie Gatti, Tate228, and Big Sant. Each artist has accomplished a lot in their own regard; to see them together is a statement for the whole state.

The Ole Miss-inspired EP is 6 tracks of various vibes. The project starts with pain-stricken bars that transition into more vibey records. Early standouts like “Tough Love” and “Hideout” will both have visuals to help support the project. This project shows the versatility that not many people would expect from southern artists. Biloxi’s own Kevin Kartier has drawn comparisons to Curren$y, Smoke DZA, and other stoner lyricists. His ability to show aggression on some tracks and a more laid-back side on others create an opportunity for people to see his range. His follow-up project is sure to serve as a perfect transition as it is full of smooth beats to roll down the windows and ride to.

“Mississippi means everything to me. We are used to doing the most with the least out here. It is the birthplace of America’s music. You will meet some of the most creative people in the world here. That’s what I wanted to show with this project and everything else that I do.” – Kevin Kartier.

Kevin Kartier has already done a lot to put on for his hometown and state alike. His team’s Mississippi Mudd playlist /newsletter have provided so many creatives in the state a chance to connect their various interest. Kevin understands that being selfish will not be the way he wins. Therefore, he does all he can to shine the light on everyone he can. His recent “What Does Mississippi Mean To Me?” campaign drew video testimonials from dozens of locals. The goal was to stay connected, although the world has to stay apart. Kevin Kartier looks to create a wave and following like fellow Mississippians David Banner and Big K.R.I.T. This year’s work is sure to set him apart and help him rise through the everyday fluff of the industry.
