1017 signee Big Scarr teams up with Gucci Mane for “In Color” visual

Memphis rapper Big Scarr drops the video for him and 1017 boss Gucci Mane’s track “In Colors.” The song comes off of Scarr’s label debut Big Grim Reaper. The visual sees the two rappers whipping four-wheelers through the desert with an abundance of models dancing on set.

Since the early 2010s, Gucci Mane has practically owned Atlanta hip-hop both with his own music, and the influence that he’s had on the A-Town sound. However, Gucci’s new focus has shifted to developing the rising stars from all across the south.

We’ve all heard of 1017 frontman Pooh Shiesty from his track “Back In Blood”, but Big Scarr has made his mark on the emerging Memphis rap scene with tracks like “Endzone,” “I Would Keep Going,” and “SoIcyBoyz 2,” among many others.

Y Chibi drops emotional track “2 Many Times”

The latest track from 17-year old artist Y Chibi was released ahead of his upcoming project No Cosign releasing on May 21st. While still new in the music world, Y Chibi is gaining traction in his hometown of Dallas and beyond with his previous single “Big Dawg,” garnering half a million streams in less than a month. On the Nigerian-American emcee’s newest song he speaks on the painful experiences he’s gone through in such a short amount of time. From his father unexpectedly passing away to losing friends to street life or just growing apart, Y Chibi has experienced many trials that listeners can relate to.

“Things happened to me early, I had to focus on growing up. I had to grind and challenge myself,” he said.

To cope with life’s pains at such a young age, Y Chibi turned to music and it has not been in vain. His uncle seeing his potential and wanting to keep him away from life in the streets, helped him to get studio time and release his first full-length project Pain-Tence at 16 years old. Since it’s release he has seen a steady incline in streams and popularity and with his second project dropping next month he will hopefully be able to keep his momentum.

Cellus Hamilton invites his listeners into his personal life with “Right Now”

Most people would prefer to bury their pasts and never look back. They figure that because people weren’t there to witness the dark moments of their lives, it is wise to act like they never happened. Cellus Hamilton is not most people.

In his new video “Right Now”, Hamilton reminisces about the mistakes of his immature past and how they have made him into the man he is today. As a successful business owner, husband, and creator of three charting albums, Cellus Hamilton reflects on his days of smoking weed, chasing women, and writing self-glorifying music. The short song features a powerful verse in which Hamilton shows his new style of rapping–exposing the ills and injustices of society.

Right Now was released as a single in 2018 but is finally receiving a visual 3 years later. The song features production from PALA and was directed by Alex Ferrec. This music video is the first one Ferrec has directed as he plans to establish himself as a sought-out creator in the music world. Video coloring was done by his wife Margaret Ferrec. Be sure to check out the video and also to stream “Right Now” on all platforms.

Georgia’s Twaankalu is poised to take over R&B with his single “Rewind”

Equipped with the vulnerability of 90s R&B singers like Usher, K-Ci, Ginuwine, and the swagger of modern-day acts, Twaankalu delivers the sappy track “Rewind.”

The song is a must-have for any duffle bag playlist and even though summer is right around the corner, we all need some songs to put us in our feelings.

As explained by the August, GA native, the song’s “atmospheric chord progressions and hypnotic drum patterns unite to paint a vivid image of a life sustained by solitude and reflection and adorned with passion and romance.”

Twaankalu began his musical journey in his sophomore year of college after taking a course on digital sound but was soon taken by the art form and quickly dedicated his life to becoming a household name in the R&B space.

“An integral part of who I am as an artist (and as a person) is finding strength in my ability to be honest and vulnerable, and that heavily influenced me during the songwriting process. I want my music to tear down walls in the hearts of my fans,” he explained.

Despite only releasing one track on Spotify, Twaankalu has caught the attention of some serious names in music opening for the likes of Jeremih and London On Da Track.

Things are certainly looking up for this young R&B talent so stay tuned for more, follow him on Instagram, and check out the single below!
