Saint Frm LA proves why he’s someone to watch

The independent artist is quickly on the rise.

Saint Frm LA is definitely an artist you should have on your radar. He’s an independent artist on the rise, from Los Angeles, and with his recent releases, shows just why he’s somebody that you should be paying attention to. With a clever wordplay, dope beat selection, and overall varied catalogue, Saint Frm LA has a mix of all the best traits. His lyrics are not only mesmerizing, they captivate audiences and make for songs that have the best of both worlds.

His most recent album ‘Reverend’ is a project that speaks volume as far as versatility goes. With a smooth delivery and interesting storyline, Saint gets creative and out of the box with his lyrics and wordplay. A few standouts on the project include “Ace,” “What Goes Up,” and “Picture Perfect,” ft. Alexandria. Throughout the 18-track project, Saint gets interpersonal and has something to offer for anyone who listens to it.

“With Reverend, I wanted to exemplify the thoroughness of my thoughts and showcase that I’m a rapper who can bar with the best,” he explained.

And thoughtfulness is just one way to describe the project — if it’s anything like what’s to come in the future, audiences are in for a treat when they listen to Saint Frm LA’s music. Fortunately, he has more music on the way, including an upcoming album that people can look forward to!

Keep reading to learn more about Saint Frm LA.

What city are you from/ Where are you based now?

I’m from Los Angeles, California; Mid City LA to be exact. I grew up right off Pico, less than half a mile from ‘Scoes. LA is all I know, I love my city.

What is your artist name? What is your real name? How did you get your artist name?

I am Saint Frm LA. When I began with music I went by JP The Goat, that was back in High School. At school everybody called me JP, which comes from my name being Jordan. In the first song I ever recorded I said, “Jordan is the name, I’m the G.O.A.T, now I’m out” which lead to the artist name “JP The Goat.” As I progressed with music, I grew different from who I was when I started and felt that a name change was necessary as a part of my artist evolution. The goal is to take what is now “Saint Frm LA” and become a big enough artist to one day just be “Saint.”

How would you describe your sound to readers who may not be familiar with you?

My sound is one that embodies the best of several generations. I was born in 2000, but my heart is with the 90s. From RnB to Hip Hop, I appreciate the creation through all the times. But of course, I’m well versed in the artists of today. When I’m not listening to myself, I mainly listen to the familiar names of Kendrick, Drizzy, and Cole as far as rap. My R&B list could go on forever but to keep it short I’ll mention Breezy, Brent, Anderson Paak and Usher. Hov, Em, Wayne, and Nas get heavy airplay from the kid too.

What’s one reason you are passionate about music and what inspires you?

Music has always been a part of who I am. I grew up in church and my whole family on my mother’s side is musically inclined in one way or another. My pops is up on game too, he put me on more than I can remember. I remember he had this big CD case full of discs in the car (something that is now just our digital music library). It’s gotten to the point for me that I can’t see myself doing anything but music, it’s on my mind 25/8, and not just music in itself but the business of the industry as well. My days are spent reading, or watching videos in relation to the entertainment industry.

Who are some of your main musical influences?

As I was saying before, my musical taste is all over the place. One day I’ll be bumping Shalamar, the next it’ll be Future, then blackbear. Neighborhood Nip gon’ forever get runtime from me too, RIP.

Tell us the name of the project you are currently promoting? What inspired this project?

I’m currently in a state of finishing up and promoting my up and coming project ‘Pimps Get Lonely Too.’ I’m usually working on multiple projects at once so this one has songs dating all the way back in 2019. As I’ve always felt about my newer works, this is what I believe to be my best project to date. In May 2021, I dropped my last LP, titled Reverend. I’d been working on PGLT and Reverend simultaneously and knew they would play hand in hand with each other when it was all said and done.

Date that this project dropped or is set to drop?

Pimps Get Lonely Too is set to drop in January, currently aimed for the week of my 22nd Birthday, January 6th.

What is this project about in your own words?

My heart and mind are intertwined with my music. As a person, I’m very observant and offer a helping hand in any area I think could use one. So through my artistry, I try to speak on my observations of the world, our generation, and myself. I always want to educate my peers but also give them the hits they enjoy and deserve to listen too. As I’ve progressed, I’ve found a better balance between the conscious and the turn up. With Reverend, I wanted to exemplify the thoroughness of my thoughts and showcase that I’m a rapper who can bar with the best. Pimps Get Lonely Too, is meant to be a project for the radio, and for listeners to enjoy in any situation. But still it has a concept and meaning, it’s about life as a young adult, dealing with the pressure of the world, and typical relationship issues that we all experience at some point. There are a couple of tracks where I open up about myself, my experiences with life and love.

What’s next for you? Are you working on any upcoming projects we should be on the lookout for? Include some dates if you have them.

Pimps Get Lonely Too. Everybody should be on the lookout, I’m going to be a big problem in the industry and it’ll be known to all once this project releases. Believe that.

What message do you hope fans take away from your music and from this project?

I really hope this project gives fans and new listeners and clearer look on who I am and what I plan to bring to the music world. It was a really fun project for me because I was able to just create and not worry too much about depth and conceptuality.. that was at the beginning, as I finish up this project I’m starting to dig a little deeper just to close it off and feel comfortable with what I’m putting out in the world.

YS & Payroll Giovanni drop “All Week” video

Only a week after releasing his highly touted project “Realer Than Real”, YS is back with a brand new visual for “All Week” featuring Detroit legend Payroll Giovanni. The disco-like production provided by Helluva sets the table for YS and Payroll to electric slide all over the track. YS explains what a seven day period is like for him when he states, “I was just thuggin’ on the block on Sunday, flew to the D when I land it was Monday, Tuesday went and grabbed that Glock now it’s doomsday, Wednesday my dog just hit me said the food came, Thursday I was thumbing through it playing with them blues, Friday we was sliding with a dirty tool, Saturday I woke up then I watched the news”. Payroll then gave a description of his exploits on his verse, “Monday I was stocked, Tuesday I had a couple, by Friday I’m iced up leaving bitches puzzled”.

The REALMOVIE directed visual shows YS and Payroll marking their calendars planning out their respective weeks, in front of a stable of yellow luxury cars.

CAMPAIGNFORTHEPUBLIC gets vulnerable on ‘Something Lite, Nothing Too Crazy’ project

The Richmond, California artist connects with RemixdMag for an in-depth conversation.

CAMPAIGNFORTHEPUBLIC has been having a stellar 2021 unleashing multiple records that reflect the Bay Area’s contemporary music scene and culture. And on his new nine-track album, ‘Something Lite, Nothing Too Crazy’ the Cash Register Crew signee compiles the buoyant sounds of Cali with his own spin giving us a front seat into what LA encompasses is in his mind – relationships, lust, money, good times, good folk, overcoming travails, and ultimately, day to day soiree fans can easily relate to. CAMPAIGN FOR THE PUBLIC tags producer Drew Banga to muster a Bay Area influenced riddled project. Stunnman02 is also featured on the project.

On the record, the Maintain” the emoter doesn’t mind being vulnerable, audacious, goal-driven, disgruntled as he hopes fans can resonate with how he maneuvers the seesawing emotions we naturally go through on the way to our goals.

In his own words, he mentions the project was a feel-good homage to his hometown.

“The project to me is a feel-good project. It is something that you can put on and let play all

the way through. It has a good feel” he tells Remixd Mag.

Fans will be inspired by his grit & fervor on tracks like “Get Right” where he outright shines a light on the dangers of overly trusting people you don’t know while on the pursuit of one’s goals – in this case his goals are money-oriented and leaving the treacherous “hood.”

“I don’t wanna know you, I got trust issues homie” he raps on the zealous West Coast sounds of Drew Banga.

On “Make Sense” he displays a valor for wealth – “Too much money for me not to get rich” he distinguishes himself to a mob boss, and keeps us on our toes on the bouncy instrumental.

On numbers like “Good Times”, the peachy music borrows slightly from Afrobeats’ rhythm but still carries a heavy West Coast flavor, and this sort of hybridity is why the record is innovative and enjoyable.

“The project was inspired because I wanted to link up with another producer from the Bay Area and make a project that home could relate too, sound wise. I ended up linking with a producer by the name of Drew Banga and we made a great cohesive project that I am proud of.”

Drew Banga, his sound architect on the project creates a Bay Area sound palette that has catapulted the likes of Bino Redaux, Mozzy, Blxst to mainstream acclaim, but particularly for Campaign, his elastic voice and innate soundscape allowed him free will to bend the music to his command.

“I would describe my sound as refreshing and unique,” he said. “I think my voice allows me to make any type of beat sound like my own. My most recent project I would say has a fresh, west coast, laid-back feel.”

The project taps features from Bay Area legend Stunnaman02, and blushes through a rooted West Coast sound with hints of R&B. “Gangslide” and “Feel Some Way” are some of the record’s pillars.

“I would say two of the standout songs on the projects are ‘Gang Slide’ and ‘Feel Some Way,'” he said. “The Gang Slide song is a club song that is featuring Stunnaman02. The term ‘Gang Slide’ is something that the crew says wherever there is a group of us. The ‘Feel Some Way’ song is a song that shows of more the R&B side of my music. It is a song about having too much fun to be in relationship.”

On visuals from the full length LP such as “Maintain,” CAMPAIGN mirrors his unique fashion sense, an essential part of his art. Fans can not only be content with the quality sounds ruminating from the project, but underlying nuggets such as self-belief and expression are added facets we can implement based off the rappers’ bonafide offering.

“The opportunity to influence the world really inspired me to dedicate myself to music,” he said. “Whether it is with the words in my music, fashion, or just how I carry myself, I think making music and being an artist can come with a big responsibility. Also it is way for me to express myself. I was looking for a way to express myself and music really helped with that. I can be unapologetically myself.”

Having a solid project crossed off the bucket list, 2021 is still promising for CAMPAIGNFORTHEPUBLIC. .

“I have another project finished and a couple single that I plan on releasing within the next

few months,” he continued. “As well with a couple more visuals for songs off ‘Something Lite, Nothing Too Crazy.'”

The project is available on all platforms.
