We are back with some of the best new releases! Lying ahead for your weekend is a fresh batch of new releases ready to hit your headphones. It’s a number of hot surprises from Ari Lennox, Freddie Gibbs, Alex Isley, Gucci Mane, and more. Without further ado, let’s get into the best new songs to check out this weekend.
“Blackberry Sap” by Ari Lennox
Last night, Dreamville and DJ Drama teamed up to bless fans with an official Gangsta Grillz mixtape from the label. The entire Dreamville roster appeared, but which artist made the most of their collabs? Ari-Gotdamn-Lennox, that’s who. The DC-bred songstress graced the project with two of her own tracks, but “Blackberry Sap” is the standout by far. On top of a chipmunk-style soul sample, Ari hops on and seduces the instrumental line-by-line. Sure, her arousing lyrics can leave your ears with hot flashes (This ain’t no I-N-Out, if you in, you eatin’ out). But it’s the pockets that she’s hitting in her verses and the melodramatization of her voice in the chorus that gives its je ne sais quoi. Despite the D-Day mixtape being rap-heavy, Ari’s “Blackberry Sap” holds its own as one of the project’s highlight moments.
Blood All On It by Gucci Mane ft. Young Dolph & Key Glock
1017 and Paper Route join forces as Gucci Mane and Key Glock deliver “Blood All on It”. The single is just another of many within Guwop’s ageless collection of jams. But this one’s special as it features a posthumous feature from fallen Memphis rapper Young Dolph. This isn’t the first time the Atlanta veteran paid homage to his friend, releasing his “Long Live Dolph” track soon after the rapper’s passing. Now, Gucci and Glock reconnect with Dolph on here. The three trade verses back and forth the haunting instrumental, with their chemistry still sounding natural as ever.
Top Notch by Fivio Foreign ft. City Girls
Fivio Foreign and City Girls bring the heat on their latest single “Top Notch”. As Fivio’s forthcoming album soon appoaches, the song is another to build the buzz, and it definitely does. In an unexpected collaboration, the Brookyln drill sound is met with the Florida bounce in perfect form. The “Big Drip” spitter sounds at home on the energetic beat, but it’s really Yung Miami and JT that steal the show with their impressive verses.
