CHI is turnt up on new single “Prada Bag”

Vancouver hailed artist CHI is back off his successful April-helmed EP, Married To The Game. His single “Prada Bag” finds the moody R&B Hip Hop emoter buoyant as ever as he recounts his wins on the record.

Talking to Remixd Mag exclusively, he opened up on the making of the song, pointing out his creative juices were flowing after a great night at the club.

“The song is inspired from a crazy night out I had, we decided to go to the studio after and that’s how the track was made” the buttery-toned artist revealed.

Fast rising, CHI, who ventured into music at the young age of 16, is an artist you should probably keep your tabs on. Content on achieving his desires, like many of the greats, CHI possesses the knife-edged “I must make it” attitude that many arousing artists such as his fellow Canadian crooner Aubrey bestows.

“I decided when I was like 17 that music was something I wanted to do as a career” he says.

“I had been making music since I was 16 it started off as a just for fun type thing and I just enjoyed it a lot. I just fell In love with making music. it was an outlet for me and I had a lot of fun doing it so I never stopped.”

He admits to feeling lost and clueless of what he was going to do with his life before falling in love with the art.

With the grit and the talent, it’s only a matter of time until the stars align for the world’s introduction to the cosmic talent of CHI.

His latest body of work Married To The Game, which according to DSP’s is his sophomore EP, has already banked up to 100,000 streams after only releasing it in April of this year, which makes his latest offering “Prada Bag” a testament of his egregious commitment to his craft. But after all, he is married to the game.

Channeling his adversities and victories through his music on atmospheric instrumentals, the R&B Hip Hop tinged artist is braced for an inevitable blow up sooner rather than later.

Lending his high pitch falsetto to his music, pairing it with declarative bars, and magnet-like melody, it’s only a matter of time until he is doing rounds on everyone’s playlists.

The video was directed by Jamez LaFlame, and features Dave Amigo rapping in a dark room, while a projector beams video game footage across his face and the background, similar to the legendary “Flossing” music video by the late rapper 6 Dogs. There’s not much more to say about this drop aside from the fact that Dave Amigo’s style is unlike anything else out right now. Dave shines in the unknown and thrives when he’s creating new sounds. Overall this track is super fun, and energetic, watch the music video below and support Dave on his journey to the top!

Rising R&B singer-songwriter thuy taps R&B star RINI for new single “trust”

Vietnamese singer-songwriter thuy (pronounced twee) and RINI join forces to create the perfect soundtrack for a summer romance with “trust” – her second release this year, following the deluxe edition of her critically-acclaimed debut EP, i hope u see this. “trust” comes on the heels of her show-stopping performance at the Unity March in Washington, D.C. last month.

Thuy is here to impress audiences with consistently delivering her own version of soulful R&B melodies.

Listen to “trust” HERE

Throughout the song, thuy and RINI’s synergy adds to their already-expansive palette of sounds introduced to listeners over the years. “trust” draws its name from discussing the complexities of love, unfurling a cinematic story that deals with relationship highs and lows.

Coupled with the song’s release, thuy shares the video for “trust,” directed by Edgar Daniel, which finds the artist depicting love through a montage of scenes that outline the power of finding yourself in another person. Speaking about her new single and the meaning of its title, thuy says: “Trust is something you build with another person. You spend time growing and learning each other, and somewhere along the way, the goal is to become two pieces of a greater whole. ‘trust’ details the journey of nurturing love and growth, which can only happen when you let down your guard and open up.

On collaborating with RINI, thuy says, “RINI’s smooth falsetto and heartfelt lyrics adds a beautiful male perspective to this duet. This song was truly a perfect fit for the both of us and we had such a great time creating this together!”

On being tapped for the duet RINI says, “I’m so so happy I got to be part of this beautiful song, it’s the perfect summer Jam and the visual really speaks to me and I know it would do the same for a lot of people who are in relationships. Thank you thuy for creating this gem with me.”

For thuy, making music has never been about chasing trends. Instead, she’s opted for a rare form of vulnerability with one goal in mind: to inspire her fans.

In a celebratory pivot, thuy was chosen as one of Head In The Clouds and Day N Vegas’ coveted 2022 performers, contributing to what has already been a successful start to her young career.

Lupe Fiasco shares “AUTOBOTO,” the first video from ‘DRILL MUSIC IN ZION’

Known for his layered metaphors and perceptive point-of-view, Lupe Fiasco often sounds happiest when he lets loose and spits. Giving the visual treatment to one of the verbose tracks from his new album DRILL MUSIC IN ZION, Lupe shares the music video for AUTOBOTO.” Released as a single last month, “AUTOBOTO” is a mischievous, playful, and deceptively dense single that finds Lupe weaving his precise barbs around Soundtrakk’s arpeggiating guitars. In the hook, Lupe compares himself to a Porsche Carrera, a finely-tuned, performance-focused sports car that tears up the road like Lupe tears up the mic. In the “AUTOBOTO” video, Lupe drives around his hometown of Chicago in that vehicle, before parking the vehicle in view of the city’s iconic skyline. For the song’s final minute, Lupe beams out of frame and cedes the spotlight to Nayirah, who closes the clip with her melodic mastery.

The product of a burst of thoughtful spontaneity, Lupe created DRILL MUSIC IN ZION over a short period, diving into a folder of beats sent by Soundtrakk and emerging with a fully-realized album in just three days (“Sometimes deadlines are lifelines,” says Lupe). The album is home to highlights like “NAOMI,” in which Lupe fuses playful political analysis with poignant emotional resonance, and “MS. MURAL,” which continues a series of songs that started on 2014’s Tetsuo & Youth (“Mural”) and continued with his last album DROGAS WAVE (“Mural Jr.”), and the jazz-inflected title track, which slyly comments on how art created amidst strife becomes commodified entertainment for the masses. Released last week, the ten-track album earned praise from NPRComplexThe FADER, and many others, including Vinyl Me Please, who wrote “At their best, Lupe’s bars are as visually and phonetically pleasing as popped bubble wrap.”

DRILL MUSIC IN ZION is Lupe’s first new album since 2018’s DROGAS WAVEbut the proud Chicago native has already had a busy 2022, marked with sold out shows, new music, and much more. Last week, Lupe shared Galveston,” an Apple Music-exclusive track that explores the origins of Juneteenth. Lupe recently closed out his “Food & Liquor Tour,” a series of performances in which he plays his debut album in full. He paid tribute to his hometown in the reflective, self-produced 100 Chicagos,” and dug into the archives to share “Hustlaz,” a previously-unreleased song originally recorded before the release of the now-classic debut album Food & Liquor.

Lupe recently launched his “LFT” program, a new NFT program that allows fans to get closer than ever to Lupe. Unlike many NFTs, which solely exist in the digital space, the “LFT” program offers token-holders an array of online and offline benefits. The benefits start with a generative art profile pic–each LFT holder gets a unique digital artwork inspired by Lupe’s album Lupe Fiasco’s The Cool, which celebrates its 15th birthday this year. Beyond music, Lupe continues to focus on the community organizations he founded, including We Are M.U.R.A.L, The Neighborhood Start-Up Fund, Society of Spoken Art, and his cross-cultural content venture, Studio SV.

With DRILL MUSIC IN ZION,  Lupe starts another chapter in his illustrious career, but he’s not done growing.

“Your whole life you’re physically growing, and as an artist, I feel like I’m taller now,” says Lupe. “Not that I’m at a higher place of morality, it’s that my vantage point and perspective is higher. I can see further.”
