Vincent Manzullo embodies a true ’90s Kid’ with his latest nostalgia-induced project

Vincent Manzullo is back with his latest release ’90s Kid’ and it’s everything nostalgic that comes to mind. The title of the 7-track release captures the essence of a ’90s vibe with its chilled, laid-back melodies and instrumental flows that Manzullo incorporates this time around. The New Jersey-born artist has been consistently putting out music since he first began his career and has been steadily gaining traction with every release. His past releases include two projects, 2021’s Mind Over Oppressive Decisions & 2 Realities — and now Manzullo is showing audiences a new wave of versatility with his latest, ’90s Kid.’

“This entire body of work really came together naturally,” Manzullo told RemixdMag. “I am a 90s kid at heart. Just the culture of the 90s as a whole really has always stayed with me. So it felt natural. It felt fitting. Watching Kennan and Kel, All That, Power Rangers and Michael Jordan on McDonalds commercials.”

With standout singles such as “Just Grind,” “Growing Old,” and “90s Kid,” Manzullo bends and defies genres as he lets his true artistic ability shine. He’s not afraid to be himself and showcase the growth that he’s experienced in between his last releases. The entire vibe of the project is something that is easy and soothing to listen to in just one press — audiences are in for a treat with ’90s Kid.’

“This is a multidimensional hip hop project,” he says. “I hope readers can take away my versatility as an artist. Elements of different genres can be heard throughout the track list. Some genre touching examples are alternative rock, indie pop.”

Philadelphia duo, PRLM CHLD, close out the summer with breezy new track, “Dolce”

Drawing comparisons to the legendary Hip-Hop group, “Fugees,” Philadelphia duo PRLM CHLD has established a name for themselves in the “215” and beyond after releasing several well-received singles and grabbing co-signs from Jadakiss, Fabolous, and Wyclef Jean himself.

Consisting of members Scottie Kash and Pride Zu, PRLM CHLD’s latest release comes in the form of the luxuriously melodic  track, “Dolce.”

A mesmerizingly smooth, afro-beats infused jam, the Pride Zu-produced “Dolce” finds the Philly duo singing about the rewards of patience and in turn, perseverance. “Promise me you goin’ cheer me on and hold it down for the team, yeah yeah,” the pre-chorus goes.Their lyrics offer hope and the promise of better days despite the dark times one may be going through, especially when the journey is with a loved one.

“Dolce was inspired by the conversation between you and the loved ones around you to keep that promise to keep faith while coming from humble beginnings in order to see those rewards come later,” the duo shares with us.

While the Summer is coming to an end, “Dolce” is a reassuring, audible vacay that is just as breezy as it is bold.

Montell Fish announces first US headlining tour, A Night With Ghost

Fresh off the release of his critically-acclaimed debut album JAMIE, which earned high praise from Billboard and The New York Times, and following his late-night television debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Montell Fish has announced his first headlining US tour A Night With A Ghost and released a new single “Hotel”.

The 11-date tour, which already is near sold-out, will find Montell face-to-face with the expansive fanbase (his crooning and heartfelt music has corralled 4m+ Spotify Monthly Listeners), while also giving him an opportunity to exhibit his knack for live performance and flex his dynamic showmanship.

Hotel” is an evocative power ballad featuring robust big-body synths, warm and waining guitar licks, and his signature, richly melodious vocals–-amounting to a new, bold sound for Montell Fish. This month, Montell also released the JAMIE film, a complimentary project to the debut album, featuring exclusive, original music from Montell.

After releasing a stunning debut album, bringing his talents to late-night television, and continuing to reinvent his lucid sound––MontellFish is ready to usher in the next chapter of his career with the A Night With A Ghost Tour and his new single, “Hotel”. In the words of Montell:

“Hotel” is meant to represent the beginning of the next chapter after JAMIE, a kind of post-break-up anger. Instead of soft, ambient guitars I wanted to contrast it with dark heavy bass and a more rock guitar solo towards the end. I feel excited about going on tour, It’s like inviting people into another world.”

Mavi announces new album, shares new music video for “Baking Soda”

In 2019, 22-year-old rapper Mavi released his debut album Let The Sun Talk to thunderous applause and widespread critical acclaim, and now, fresh off a tour with Jack Harlow and Babyface Ray, he has announced his sophomore albumLaughing So Hard It Hurts, out 10/14, and shared a new video single “Baking Soda”. His forthcoming album, Laughing So Hard It Hurts is a collection of eloquent soliloquies that bounce around the curious consciousness of Mavi––whether through the introspective analysis of his own self-worth, the indispensable appreciation and tenderness he has for his loved ones, or the anxious duality of striving to be a successful artist and also maintain his core political values––Mavi tackles it all. “Baking Soda”, produced by the famed Chicago multi-instrumentalist Monte Booker and recorded at Rick Rubin’s Burbank studio, is an earnest retelling of the obstacles and opportunities that line the walls of Mavi’s life––with his high-brow, acrobatic lyricism superbly fitting over an 8-bit sample chop and a warm, inviting pair of synths and strings. The Brick-directed visual for the track opens with Mavi’s infectious smile as he performs his pondering verse, followed by a montage of clips featuring his crew and his hometown of Charlotte. The influences that are wrapped up in Laughing So Hard It Hurts track the day-to-day apparatus of Mavi’s life––from studying the hard-hitting raps of Babyface Ray to admiring the soundtrack of the animated cult-classic show Adventure Time, the 16-track album offers the most holistic view of his life to date. With topics surrounding the lightest and darkest moments of his life, the love and support of his tight-knit community, and the prospect of possibly being a family man in the future, Laughing So Hard It Hurts (Out 10/14) are the rhythmic contemplations of an MC wise beyond his years, trying to make sense of the complex path laid before him. In words of Mavi:

“It was a really loving experience to put together this album––I feel relieved that this is coming out and I’m still slightly in disbelief. This isn’t the first album I made since the last album I dropped [Let The Sun Talk]––I made 2 albums since the last one was released, so this album coming out still feels a little imaginary…I don’t know when it’s gonna feel real quite yet, but I’m happy.“
