Dave East and DJ Awall fire up ‘No Place Like Home Tour’ during LA stop

Harlem lyricist Dave East announced his ‘No Place Like Home Tour’ which kicked off in Maine on 9/30 and wraps up in his hometown at Harlem’s Apollo Theater on 11/10. The tour was in support of East’s recent EP How Did I Get Here that was released in March.

East teamed up with Def Jam to run the 23-city tour and his midway stop was in Los Angeles, CA at The Vermont Hollywood. Remixd Magazine was in attendance and he showed up ready to effortlessly put on a show and capture his audience. East was accompanied by his official deejay, DJ Awall and handful of artists on tour including his openers, Boston rapper Millyz and upcoming label signee Piif Jones

DJ Awall set the tone for the crowd as they anticipated East hopping on stage.

Moments after the crowd was warmed up, Dave jumped on stage and started out the show with his viral hit song “Handsome,” and throughout the night went into his fan-favorites such as “How U a Gangsta” and “Perfect” featuring Chris Brown.

He also brought out some familiar faces to the Vermont stage including All Money In rapper J Stone, and upcoming artists Quany Owe and Kadee. As he closed out the show, East’s emphasis on his rap ability was present he oftentimes did his verse with no beat and even sampled new music for the crowd. Switching between conscious rap and his hit singles the concert was a great reminder that Dave East’s discography is quite impressive.

After the show, Remixd Mag caught up with both Dave East and DJ Awall about what tour life has been like and what upcoming artists Dave has his eyes on right now. Check out the interview clips below.
