Will Cherry shares new album ‘ULTRAVIOLET’

Introducing Will Cherry — an artist/producer hailing from Cleveland, Ohio who recently released his new project ‘ULTRAVIOLET.’

“The title is inspired by the idea of an ultraviolet ray being invisible to the human eye, but still existing within our world,” Cherry says. “Anything that you can’t see but still believe in requires some sort of faith or belief. And that’s what my journey has been about so far.”

Throughout the project, he raps about his journey as an artist, taking trips around the country and finding his rhythm and my voice.

“The drive to pursue that is completely based on my faith that I’ll make it,” he says. “Because I didn’t walk in the door with a cousin in some high place to put me on immediately, I’m just hoping to make something iconic and beat the odds.”

The album as a whole tells the story of Will Cherry finding love and the relationship falling apart as he finds success in music. Will’s energy and presence throughout each track can be described as extraterrestrial, having a sound that’s out of this world.

Keep reading to learn more about Will Cherry and be sure to stream ‘ULTRAVIOLET’ below.

What city are you from/ Where are you based now?

I’m from Cleveland, specifically a town 25 minutes west of downtown Cleveland called Elyria. I still live in Elyria, and it’s definitely had a noticeable influence on my visuals because I shoot and direct most of them here.

What is your artist name? What is your real name? How did you get your artist name?

Will Cherry is my stage name, Will Lampley is my government. I started off creating everything with the name Will C. when I was like seven years old, but a couple of years ago I wanted to expand on the C. I chose cherry because it is a real last name, and it has so many different meanings, as well as an influence in pop culture. The imagery of a couple cherries on a stem is inescapable. And that’s how I want my music to be.

How would you describe your sound to readers who may not be familiar with you?

My sound is a combination of heavy and powerful drums, sweet melodies and harmony, and a ton of versatility. I came up in the church so gospel chords are at the core of everything I do, it’s hard for me to make a song and it not eventually reach an emotional place in the production. I produce and mix my own music so I really focus on channeling my true emotions into the songs so people can feel something. I feel like my expression is at its purest place so far, but I want to push that farther.

What’s one reason you are passionate about music and what inspires you?

I’m passionate about it because I truly love to create. And I love to give it to people and get their reactions and see how it affects them. I’m the type of artist that loves to go to a studio session and play my music just to hopefully shock or impact whoever’s in the room. On my album I say “every time I play a song, they make me play it again”. That’s real and it’s definitely one of my goals. An even bigger goal is for me to just make something that someone can relate to emotionally and identify with. So they know whatever specific feelings they’re dealing with, Will Cherry is right there with them. And not just for the sad tracks. I feel that way about the happy moments too. I want people to make memories to my music. Rodeo by Travis Scott soundtracked a whole year for me. There are so many memories directly tied to that album and when I listen to it, the music takes me to those times. I want ULTRAVIOLET to be that same sort of time capsule for my fans.

Who are some of your main musical influences?

Marvin Gaye, Thundercat, Travis Scott, Jodeci, Kendrick Lamar, PJ Morton and Tyler, the Creator definitely influenced my worldview as a musician.

Tell us the name of the project you are currently promoting? What inspired this project?

ULTRAVIOLET is my new album. The title is inspired by the idea of an ultraviolet ray being invisible to the human eye, but still existing within our world. Anything that you can’t see but still believe in requires some sort of faith or belief. And that’s what my journey has been about so far.

Date that this project dropped or is set to drop?

October 13th. It’s 2:47 AM on October 13th as I write this and I’m feeling really excited about how it will impact my city and my world, and eventually the world at large. I think there’s something special about those moment-in-time type interviews so I just wanted to throw those feelings in there.

What is this project about in your own words?

On the album, I’m rapping about my journey as an artist, taking trips around the country and finding my rhythm and my voice. The drive to pursue that is completely based on my faith that I’ll make it. Because I didn’t walk in the door with a cousin in some high place to put me on immediately, I’m just hoping to make something iconic and beat the odds. Aside from the music, the album tells a story of me finding love and then the relationship starting to fall apart as I get closer to success in music. With relationships, there are so many things that may not be seen openly or communicated, it can only be felt. From the beautiful energy in the beginning to the sourness in the end, it’s felt and understood, Kind of like ultraviolet rays.

What’s next for you? Are you working on any upcoming projects we should be on the lookout for? Include some dates if you have them.

After this, I’m going to be performing the album in a few different cities, rolling out some merch and my band STARLITE will be releasing an album this winter. I produced the album and really cared for the project as if it were my own, so if you like this album, you’ll definitely like that one as well.

What message do you hope fans take away from your music and from this project?

I want people to feel happy, rejuvenated, inspired and I’d love for them to walk away from songs like “Brawl”, “Southside” or “Hold Me Down” with a different type of lens on their own relationships, mental health or goals. It’s fun music but I do want people to think a little bit and feel something.

Multi-genre artist Floyd Miles impresses on latest EP ‘No Place Like Om’

Floyd Miles has something special. With his latest EP ‘No Place Like Om’ he offers a unique variety of songs that put his talents as a multi-genre artist on full display.

His music has a sound that uplifts, inspires, and entertains as he puts no limits on the context and sound of his music.

“Music has always come naturally to me,” Miles tells RemixdMag. “It’s one thing in life I’ve never had to force. The world inspires me; it could be anything, a love interest, a friend, a flower. There’s a song in everything.”

The EP ‘No Place Like Om’ [NPLO] is an 8-track project that offers a blend of sounds that range from Afrobeats to R&B and hip-hop notes. During an interview with RemixdMag, Floyd Miles says that he loves a good challenge and the creation of different sounds that went into this project proved to be one for him.

“I hadn’t really created Afrobeats music prior, but I love a challenge,” he said. “NPLO was an opportunity for me to build a new sound and to offer something that people had not heard, or were not used to hearing from me. Naturally, there are still nuances of R&B in my music, but Afrobeats, and the sub-genres within it, gave me the space to have some more fun with the music while sharing an important message with the people.”

What city are you from/ Where are you based now?

I am currently based in Los Angeles, California.

What is your artist name? What is your real name? How did you get your artist name?

My artist name is Floyd Miles which is also  my real name, shoutout to my parents for that.

How would you describe your sound to readers who may not be familiar with you?

My sound is diverse, free-flowing, intentional, and authentic.

What’s one reason you are passionate about music and what inspires you?

Music has always come naturally to me. It’s one thing in life I’ve never had to force. The world inspires me; it could be anything, a love interest, a friend, a flower. There’s a song in everything.

Who are some of your main musical influences?

I don’t have musical influences outside of myself.

Tell us the name of the project you are currently promoting. What inspired this project?

My most recent project is titled, “No Place Like Om” (NPLO). So many things inspired this project throughout the journey of creating it. I hadn’t really created Afrobeats music prior, but I love a challenge. NPLO was an opportunity for me to build a new sound and to offer something that people had not heard, or were not used to hearing from me. Naturally, there are still nuances of R&B in my music, but Afrobeats, and the subgenres within it,  gave me the space to have some more fun with the music while sharing an important message with the people.

Date that this project dropped or is set to drop?

October 12, 2022

What is this project about in your own words?

Each song on “No Place Like Om” has its own purpose. There isn’t one set message. That’s kind of like asking what life is about—each day has its own lesson and at the end of each day we can step back to analyze things from our perspectives. I want people to listen to the entire EP so they can determine what it means to them.

What’s next for you? Are you working on any upcoming projects we should be on the lookout for? Include some dates if you have them.

I am already working on the next project, but I plan to push “No Place Like Om” past the limit!

What message do you hope fans take away from your music and from this project?

I want people to enjoy the music and to take away from it what they feel is necessary.

Singer Geneva Lei shares meaning behind an intoxicating love in new single “Sober”

Rising artist Geneva Lei is somebody you should have on your radar! Her new single “Sober” displays how Geneva Lei is an artist filled with talent and vocal ability. She’s truly in her own lane with her sound, and the subject matter can be described as intoxicating. In her new song “Sober,” Lei details a toxic kind of love that involves you loving someone, but them only reciprocating the love when they are sober. Mixed with her beautiful singing, listeners can be blown away by her talent.

“The story ‘Sober’ was inspired by being in love with someone who can only love you back when intoxicated,” Lei explains. “It touches on the subject of seeing an individual with bad intentions through rose-coloured lenses – hoping one day, they can love you that way you love them, but sober.”

The song is a relatable tune that anyone can relate to, but also throughout the track Geneva makes it known that she’s someone who can understand what her listeners go through as well. The relatability factor is an important quality to have as a new artist and Geneva hits the nail right on the head with this track. The addictive melody and message behind the music is what will have audiences returning to play this song over & over again.

“I hope my listeners can feel like someone understands the things they go through,” she says. “Also, filling in the blanks of the missing words that they don’t know how to say. Sometimes, I suck at talking about things but I can sure sing about it.”

RemixdMag had a chance to get to know more about this upcoming artist. Keep reading to learn more about Geneva Lei and be sure to stream “Sober,” out now.

What city are you from/ Where are you based now?

I’m from Olongapo City, Philippines. I currently live in Mississauga, Ontario. 30 minutes away from Toronto!

What is your artist name? What is your real name? How did you get your artist name?

My artist name is Geneva Lei which is actually my real first name. My mom got my name from my late grandma, who’s name was Genoveva! The second part of my name came from my other grandma, Lolita.

How would you describe your sound to readers who may not be familiar with you?

My sound is contemporary R&B/Soul sound which is often fused with hiphop and SoulTrap.

What’s one reason you are passionate about music and what inspires you?

I’m the way that I am because of music. Music is the only thing that made sense to me, no matter what age I was. The first time I was inspired to do music was because of my older sister Toni. She would be the one singing around the house which led me to singing around the house, and then led to performing and now, making my own music. I truly get inspired by my own personal events – I take in my life and write stories about it though my song writing. Also, I vent through my problems when I sing – good personal therapy sessions.

Who are some of your main musical influences?

Kehlani, Jhene Aiko, Jessie Reyez, Jazmine Sullivan – the list can really go on. But these are my main influences because of the way they write their music and how they sing their stories. Just unapologetic, honest and strong women – how I inspire to be seen by my audience as well. And don’t get me started with Jazmine Sullivan. That lady is insane! Her vocals can never be matched to a T. She is a beast when it comes to riffs.

Tell us the name of the project you are currently promoting? What inspired this project?

I am promoting my newest single, “Sober” which came out on October 14th, 2022. It’s a single that is coming off of my EP, which will be coming out very soon in the near future.

What is this project about in your own words?

The story “Sober” was inspired by being in love with someone who can only love you back when intoxicated. It touches on the subject of seeing an individual with bad intentions through rose-coloured lenses – hoping one day, they can love you that way you love them, but sober.

What’s next for you? Are you working on any upcoming projects we should be on the lookout for? Include some dates if you have them.

Currently working on my first project ever! It’ll be released next year and I’m so excited to show you what my friends and I have been cooking up.

What message do you hope fans take away from your music and from this project?

I hope my listeners can feel like someone understands the things they go through as well. Also, filling in the blanks of the missing words that they don’t know how to say. Sometimes, I suck at talking about things but I can sure sing about it.

E!ena talks inspiration behind new single “cognitive dissonance”

E!ena (pronounced Elena), is an artist from Northborough, Massachusetts but is currently based in Burlington, Vermont. She recently released her new single “cognitive dissonance” and she showcases her vocals on this track in a way that listeners have not seen from her yet.

The new single utilizes various sounds and instruments, and can be described as having a jazz/pop feel to it. E!ena goes above and beyond with the carefully selected beat and thoughtful lyrics as she allows the music to convey a mood.

“[This song] was inspired by a series of unfortunate events I’ve experienced in my past, as well as my experience of anxiety and depression,” E!ena says.

In her own words, she says that “cognitive dissonance” is meant to illustrate what it feels like to have anxiety and depression.

“It’s all about a mental health episode I had near the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic,” she explained. “I experienced a lot of traumatic events that I had dismissed for a while. They eventually sort of just culminated and hit me all at once. That song truly helped me get through that experience.”

Remixd Magazine had the opportunity to chat more with E!ena. Keep reading to learn more about her artistry, and be sure to stream the new single “cognitive dissonance” below.

What city are you from/ Where are you based now?

I’m from Northborough, Massachusetts but am currently based in Burlington, Vermont.

What is your artist name? What is your real name? How did you get your artist name?

My real name is Elena, my artist name is e!ena. I honestly just thought the “!” looked cool and it sets me a part from other artists named ‘Elena’.

How would you describe your sound to readers who may not be familiar with you?

While my first song, “bittersweet” is very folk/pop, the rest of my music is much more jazz/pop/R&B.

What’s one reason you are passionate about music and what inspires you?

I love music because it really helps me better understand myself and my past experiences. It also serves as an incredible outlet for my anxiety and depression. With that said, the urge to share my own difficult experiences throughout my life thus far is one of my main inspirations. I’m also greatly inspired by the people who listen to my music and are able to relate/feel understood.

Who are some of your main musical influences?

Definitely Amy Winehouse and Billie Eilish. They are both such unique artists with very personable lyrics and distinguishable sounds. If I could even have a fraction of their talent I would be enthralled.

Tell us the name of the project you are currently promoting? What inspired this project?

The song I’m currently promoting is called ‘cognitive dissonance’. It was inspired by a series of unfortunate events I’ve experienced in my past, as well as my experience of anxiety and depression.

Date that this project dropped or is set to drop?

October 26th, 2022!

What is this project about in your own words?

It’s all about a mental health episode I had near the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. I experienced a lot of traumatic events that I had dismissed for awhile. They eventually sort of just culminated and hit me all at once. That song truly helped me get through that experience.

It’s meant to illustrate what it feels like to have anxiety and depression, on top of those traumatic events I endured; it depicts that feeling of utter hopelessness and almost like you’re going insane. The turnaround in the melody near the end represents that gleam of hope that truly does exist and the possibilities that are to come, (cliche, I know. But it’s true!)

What’s next for you? Are you working on any upcoming projects we should be on the

lookout for? Include some dates if you have them.

I have a third single that should be out either in December or January. I’m hoping to drop my first EP by the end of 2023.

What message do you hope fans take away from your music and from this project?

That they are never alone.

Viral Tik Tok duo The Ugly Boys makes epic return with ‘Runner’s High’ EP

Alternative rap duo Sam and Jacob of The Ugly Boys has resurfaced with Runner’s High the EP. After going viral on Tik Tok with over 1.4 Million views on a teaser video, the boys realized they had what it took to kick off their music career. Creating their group in High School, the boys made it their mission to rise to the top.

As anticipation rose for The Ugly Boys to release they took it upon themselves to connect with fans by making collaborative videos advertising the song. The Santa Cruz Duo first made their appearance back in 2020 with their release, “Run Away.!” A catchy and energetic song with an infectious hook. They kept the momentum going and released 3 new singles– “Down, Down, Down,” “Above the Clouds,” & “Just Tell me The Truth.”

Not only did the single releases raise anticipation ever higher, it also hinted toward their versatility and creativity. Doused with uniqueness, The Ugly Boys continue to out=do themselves. Inspired by the highs and lows of a big city like LA, they transformed their raw emotions into the 7-track EP.

“It for so long without realizing that it was an EP. We are just happy to finally share it with the world,” they told RemixdMag in an interview.

RemixdMag caught up with the duo The Ugly Boys about their quick success on social media and how its reflecting into their musical career. Check out the full interview below.

What are your names, and where are you both based?

Sam and Jacob – We are currently based in Los Angeles, CA and we are from Santa Cruz, CA

How did this duo come together, where did you both meet and decide to become a group?

We met in middle school, Branciforte Middle School, but we became a group in High School through a mutual friend.

What was the inspiration behind the EP?

The highs and the lows of moving out to LA and having a time frame to blow up essentially, and not letting the pressure of it all get to you. Not getting too hyped during the wins and too down during the losses.

How did it feel to gain so much traction from teasing the song on Tik Tok?

It felt good, but our fans kept harassing us about it for so long without realizing that it was an EP. We are just happy to finally share it with the world.

How would you describe yalls’ chemistry and dynamic on a song?

We’ve been working together for so long that it just comes naturally. In the beginning we each had our own distinct strengths, but over the years we have learned from each other and become more balanced.

Describe your sound? What can fans expect from your debut?

We often try to rap over interesting samples. Fans can expect to be surprised by the range of sounds on this project. Some of our inspirations include Mac Miller, Tyler the Creator, and Kanye West.

What’s next to come from the Ugly Boys? What can we expect in the future?

Our best music is unreleased. We have new stuff coming your way much sooner than you think, and you can expect us to be doing more shows.

Check out the full Runner’s High EP Below.
