Feature: Ree is poised to dominate 2023, talks recent album ‘Reject’

Billed as one of the fast-risers hailing from Seat Pleasant, Maryland, rapper and promising act Ree is buoyant about this year following his reveling album, Reject (Deluxe).

Not only has he caught the eye of prolific producers in the industry such as Hitmaka, significant beatsmiths such as V12 (Nipsey Hussle, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne) and Major Seven (DJ Khaled, Jay-Z, Future) have all co-signed the Maryland enigma.

Ree performs at a past event

Literally on the cusp of a blow up into the limelight, Ree has been plying his trade on the mic for about two years and has already sprawled two albums to his name. In 2021, Just Ree was unveiled, before the critically acclaimed Rehabilitation was unveiled at the top of 2022, followed up by October-helmed Reject that really saw the crafty songwriter and artists’ true talent come into his own.

Spawning hits such as singles “Designer Keys” and “Worthy”, Ree has mastered the art of versatility. Throughout the 23-song album, he wades through feel-good bangers (Play My Part), sad-boy cuts (Ain’t Even Tryin), romantically peppered sizzlers (Worthy), his unique voice and humming inflections are cutting him as a rapper with a melodic edge not many can claim.

“I would say unique, angelic, could go super hard or be the most beautiful song you ever heard, I would love to hop in every lane because there is no boxing me in , As shown on Reject the Deluxe” he tells us. He mentions looking up to “Chris Brown , Young Boy , Durk , Thug , Gunna” just to emphasize on his range.

There is no doubt 2023 will offer more for the genre-bending artist. He mentions having projects and singles in the works with acts such as Trap Beckham.

“I have a lot of stuff coming , collaborations with Derrick Milano , Trap Beckham , and fire producers like Jay Uncut but the focus right now is pushing Reject Deluxe past the sky”

With some of the most gyrating production conflated with laudable performances on Reject, he reflects mentioning the Reject Deluxe was an awakening to his power and idiosyncratic virtuoso.

“This project is about expressing your differences and uniqueness through words no one would say and feelings people would never express , you would have to hear it and listen to feel that feeling whether its a bop or soul touching song” he shares “This project is named Reject (Deluxe), if you don’t know the definition of reject make sure you look it up. But it inspired by just being different and unique”

After a memorable 2022, where Ree was the winner of the DTLR HBCU BARZ ON THE YARD TOUR contest, Ree also performed at DJ E-Feezy’s F.L.A.R.E. Music conference in Miami, FL. Immediately after Ree performed the 2022 BET Producer of the year, Hitmaka and his partner Crishan the co-founder and President of Makasound Records both tapped in with Ree.

The sky is the limit for Ree this year. Check out his latest music videos below and tap in with him on social media.
