Nkosi Bourne’s “Drowning” video showcases relatable themes and powerful visuals

Brooklyn artist Nkosi Bourne has shared a new visual for his song “Drowning”, which was featured on his well-received recent EP Glimpse. Containing a meditative atmosphere and focused shots that capture the song’s pensive, calming feel, the new video for “Drowning” finds Bourne contemplating many life issues that are relatable to a wide audience of viewers. It is a poignant and sharply-crafted piece that reflects Bourne’s work ethic and attention to detail while keeping its style minimalistic and approachable. The song itself does well to cohesively blend with the visuals, utilizing laid-back, smoky guitars and buoyant percussion to underscore Bourne’s smooth flows. The music video shot by Cultivison, a production company run by Cult Classic, follows Nkosi through a depiction of a day in his life. Beginning with his home life, you get to see some of his routines but, more importantly, the things that can easily deprioritize his passion for making music and grinding. It’s a solid release overall that follows up his EP Glimpse, and it begins 2023 on an exciting note for the rising Brooklyn artist.

Philly producer BhramaBull and Monday Night collaborate on nostalgic yet fresh single “Balcony Status”

Balcony Status by BhramaBull & Monday Night

Philly producer BhramaBull, has just released a new collaborative single entitled “Balcony Status” featuring the talented rapper, Monday Night. The track is a perfect blend of old school production and modern flow, providing listeners with a nostalgic yet fresh sound.

The beat, produced by BhramaBull is reminiscent of classic hip-hop beats from the 90s and early 2000s, with a heavy use of drums, samples and a smooth bassline. It serves as the perfect backdrop for Monday Night to showcase his timeless flow and clever wordplay.

Monday Night’s lyrics on “Balcony Status” focus on the finer things in life, with references to luxury cars, dating rich women, and living the high life. He raps about the hustle and grind that it takes to achieve success, and the rewards that come with it. His delivery is confident and smooth, making it easy for listeners to get lost in the groove of the track.

Overall, “Balcony Status” is a well-crafted track that showcases the talents of both the producer and the rapper. The old school production provides a nostalgic feel while the modern flow keeps it fresh and relevant. It’s a must-listen for fans of classic hip-hop and anyone looking for a new banger to add to their playlist.

Neb Hagos can’t “Control” himself when he’s around an enchanting lady

North Carolina-based musician Neb Hagos ebbs and flows through the R&B scene with a fresher perspective on all things relating to self-growth and relationships.

Instead of opting for a more mainstream sound, Neb’s lyrics are dissected through an ambient style for the genre of his choice. The context found on each record derives from his stream of consciousness. Overall, the “INFERNO” creator is a trailblazer to look out for in the ever-evolving music industry. Flipping through his discography, you’ll be inspired to leave a fire-emoji-worthy review.

Neb Hagos’ latest single is introduced by a high-pitched sample of Clara La San‘s “Let You Go.” Ten seconds in, he recites the lyrics along with Clara before dropping some of his own.

Turning to his red cup for comfort, Neb Hagos finds himself longing for a woman who stands out from the crowd. Hago’s soothing vocal range and transparent words evoke his strong feelings toward this bombshell.

Seemingly uninterested in other admirers, Neb Hagos focuses more on what’s drawn him closer to his crush. The liquor provokes a burning desire to please this woman’s body and soul.

Remixd Magazine had an opportunity to interview Neb Hagos about his overall artistry and get a deeper understanding of his new record. Keep reading below to know more:

What city are you from? Where are you based now?

Charlotte, NC

How would you describe your sound to readers who may not be familiar with you?

My sound has an atmospheric approach, whether it’s r&b or pop. It takes you to another place or a place you once were. I’m a very diverse person when it comes to genres, so anything you hear from me will always be different.

What’s one reason you are passionate about music, and what inspires you?

I’m passionate about music because it brings people together, which I think is beautiful. A debate between artists, love for artists, or hate for artists, always seems to be a discussion. The ability to send a message and inspire others consistently inspires me to make music. Different settings always give me new perspectives on life, so that’s how I view my music.

Who are some of your main musical influences?

Growing up, my main influences were MJ, Prince, Marvin Gaye, Kanye West, Sade, Frank Ocean, The Weeknd, and Justin Timberlake. I tell people every time that if it weren’t for a Weeknd concert in 2016, I probably wouldn’t be making music right now. His ability to capture the crowd that night inspired me to go further in music.

What is your latest song “Control” about in your own words?

This project is about a specific moment at a party where I’m utterly intoxicated with this girl, and we get away from the party. Later on, a sexual encounter between us happens, and it involves more substance use. At that moment, we both felt in control of one another, which inspired the name of this track.

What’s next for you?

I’m putting an EP together that’s widely diverse. So trust that there will be something there for everyone. I also have a video for “Control” in the works. In the meantime, I have another release in February titled “One Last Dance,” which has more of a dance style.

What message do you hope fans take away from your music and this project?

I want fans to know that I’m here to entertain and elevate you. I want to always give you real music with real meaning and substance. Overall a good time! I don’t plan on going anywhere but the sky.

R&B breakout star Jordan Ward shares “WHITE CROCS” visual ft. Ryan Trey

R&B breakout star Jordan Ward ups the ante in 2023 with the dual announcement of new single, “WHITE CROCS,” with rising rapper Ryan Trey, and his debut album, FORWARD, arriving March 3. The new track also comes with its official music video, which reunites Jordan Ward with director Brent Campanelli after their previous work on Jordan’s “IDC” music video last year. In the new collab, Jordan and Ryan Trey are in a vintage black-and-white aesthetic and trade thoughts on balancing a relationship while satisfying a partner’s expensive tastes. Watch the full “WHITE CROCS” video HERE.

With “WHITE CROCS,” Jordan Ward adds to the momentum that will only increase in the lead-up to his debut album, FORWARD, on March 3. The album title holds layers of significance for the singer, both as an artistic triumph and a personal moment of reflection.  “FORWARD, not only pushing our sound and creativity, but pushing to evolve and break cycles” Jordan says of his album’s name. “FOR WARD, a dedication to my family and our future. FOUR-WARD, my fourth project, but also a FOREWORD in my story being the debut album!” Pre-order the anticipated debut album, FORWARDHERE. To support the album, Jordan will join JID and Smino’s Luv is 4Ever Tour for select dates beginning Feb. 26 in Silver Spring, Maryland and running through March 29 in Nashville.

“WHITE CROCS” and FORWARD build on the rising arc of Jordan Ward’s career and profile that has only increased with each successive release. The singer-songwriter’s prior single, “IDC,” with Joony, landed him a spot on Billboard’s Fresh Picks of the Week, with a shoutout to the “smooth, lo-fi track.” His most recent EP, Remain Calm, produced millions of streams and put the St. Louis native’s versatility on full display, swapping from rap bars on “Steph” to the R&B gem “Couscous.” Storied publications took notice, with Billboard highlighting the latter track as “a deliciously layered deep cut,” while HotNewHipHop praised the EP overall as a “short but very sweet” effort. Additionally, his 2019 project, Valley Hopefuls, continues to resonate, with the single “Okok (Hibachi)” earning tens of millions of streams and “Sandiego,” produced by the legendary No ID. Now, with more than 25 million streams and counting, Ward’s silky croons and elevated songwriting pen are sharper than ever and ready to launch him to even greater heights in the R&B realm.
