Los Angeles-based singer Cydnee With A C is back with a new music video for her latest single “As Long as You Love Me.” She also announced her new EP, ‘Confessions of a Fan Girl,’ set to be released on March 23. The comic book-styled video for “As Long as You Love Me” premiered on Valentine’s Day via Paper Magazine and showcases Cydnee’s imaginative and fantastical flair. The video features a giant teddy bear doubling as Cydnee’s ex-lover in an animated parallel universe.
“As Long as You Love Me” is a romantic track that expresses the cautious, yet hopeful experience of falling in love again with shimmery vocals and a glossy synth melody accompanied by a frenetic drum and bass-esque beat. Not to mention, an amazing Andre 3000 sample from “Hey Ya!”, seamlessly laced into the hook of the song.
In an interview with RemixdMag, Cydnee explained the inspiration behind the song and video. She stated that “As Long as You Love Me” is a hopeless romantic record that highlights the pain and bitterness she felt after being hurt in a previous relationship. The video depicts the teddy bear cheating on Cydnee and trying to win her heart back, but she ends up killing it because he hurt her again.
Love is a consistent theme throughout Cydnee’s forthcoming EP, “Confessions of a Fan Girl,” a collection of songs that pay homage to her K-Pop fandom, which she expresses through her YouTube channel. “As Long as You Love Me” follows her previous singles “Cry Alone” and “Test Me,” and continues Cydnee’s foray into dance music while showcasing her talent for bringing imagination to life on screen. In the music video for “Cry Alone,” Cydnee takes listeners on a whimsical journey through a series of vibrant rooms, and she is joined by an array of dreamlike characters.
