R&B singer Emaza Dilan shares her thoughts on public vs. private relationships on Instagram

“Show Some Love” podcast hosted by LA based broadcaster and PR guru Tallie Spencer returns this week featuring R&B singer Emaza Dilan, former member of Ceraadi.

Diving into Emaza’s new music, dating in the public eye and her label deal with Jason Duerlo going south, this episode is jam packed with hot topics.

If you don’t know, let Emaza reintroduce herself. She is a singer, influencer, choreographer and a former member of the girl group Ceraadi. However, after a public falling out with her sisters, Emaza is now a solo artist, who is in charge of her own creativity. She describes her music style as a “jukebox” as she likes to touch different sounds, from dance, country, hip-hop and of course R&B.

Private vs Public on Social Media

Now this is a big topic on whether or not you should be public with your relationships on social media. As it can be embarrassing to have to go back and delete all your photos of your former significant other after the break up.

Emaza said she is really private when it comes to her relationships. When asked how she felt about posting her other half on the gram, she said, “You have to make sure that person is on the same wavelength as you. There’s understanding, there’s trust, there’s faithfulness, because being on social media there are a lot of temptations.”

Both ladies share their experiences of being in a public social relationship and after the break up, there were a lot of deleted pictures and emotions attached to all the memories. Tallie says, “Instagram has one public relationship out of me.” Next time “I will maybe post his glass of wine with his pinky finger in the corner as my hard launch”. Emaza added to the conversation that once you make it public you open yourself up to the DMs about your relationship and it just becomes drama.

Tallie asks “what are the things needed for you to go public with them today, would you ever do it? And what boxes does he have to check”? Emaza says, “He has to be a man, not a boy, not a guy but a man. That you have seen his habits … past the 6 month mark, as they can still keep up trying to be someone that they’re not”. But it sounds like the ladies agree that public social media relationships are not for them.

The Hard Times Always Bring Trumpet Chapters

Emaza continues to detail the reason why Ceraadi broke up and the type of inspiring messages she receives as she continues on the journey of being an independent artist.

“A lot of people were telling me your fight, even, you’re still fighting it, pushes me to keep on going.”.

Emaza has a love for her fans/ supporters that runs deep, as the path she is carving out for herself, is one that is all her own. She continues to detail her experience with her former label, owned by Jason Duerlo, as a hostel environment. He was yelling at her and neglecting her as an artist.  She adds to the story, telling about the time where she had a meeting and a girl walked in and said, “how did you get here? And Emaza said, Jason Duelo knew me from the group. What about you? And the girl in turn said, “oh he’s trying to be on some f***k s***t.”

“It’s easy to go ahead and do that to get in the room, but I’m over here, blood, sweat and tears. And some girl just gets to walk up in here because…. I’m not doing that.”

“Imagine trying to stay focused the whole entire time, and you are in an industry full of wolves.”

New Music

This episode was filled with tons of stories and personal experiences Emaza Dilan has gone through in her career so far. She has new music out right now  called “Energy Vampires” which talks about “how people in the industry will suck you dry of your energy”.

And she might be dropping another single on March 15 called “Espeniage”.

So keep your eyes out for Emaza Dilon and stream her music on all streaming platforms.

Airplane James talks latest project “Still Hurt” and more

Since emerging onto the West Coast music scene, Airplane James has helped bring authenticity back into West Coast Hip Hop. Hailing from the East Side of Los Angeles, James is bringing with him a sense of reality mixed with Hip-Hop. His versatility and immaculate lyricism has afforded him the opportunity to collaborate with other prominent artists such as Bino Rideaux, and Problem, for example.

With the release of his multiple projects such as EastSide Special , Who TF Is Airplane James, and now Still Hurt. James has proved that he has more than what it takes to be a part of such a progressive industry.

Recently, Airplane James caught up with Remixd Magazine’s reporter Kerrington Dillon during a Zoom interview to discuss his journey as an artist, his inspirations, and the creation of his latest project, Still Hurt

How did you get your start in music?

Airplane James: I have always had a love for music and making music since Bow Wow first released. Fast forward to 2016, I connected with Problem and that’s when I became a part of Diamond Lanez Music Group, and I’ve been creating music every since.

Who or what are some of your musical inspirations?

Airplane James: For me I always liked when a song can make you feel something even if it doesn’t have visuals. That’s due to me growing up listening to a lot of the old stuff such as Teddy Pendergrass.

What is your take on the current sound of LA rap?

Airplane James: My personal opinion is everyone is scared to step out of the box. You see when [Dr.] Dre came in he was different, Mustard was different, even Drakeo. I feel as though LA artists are currently letting where they are from determine the type of music they release. Which is hindering their versatility.

Who are some artists you want to collaborate with in the future?

Airplane James: I’d love to collaborate with Ice Spice, I love what she’s doing and how she carries herself as if she was a vet in the game; I love her flow. I’m also shooting my shot and saying John Mayer. I’d love to hear that sound.

How are you able to create a sense of vulnerability in your music?

Airplane James: Being authentic and not being afraid to step out of the box, creates a space to speak for real. Especially when people around you may not know what you’re going through. It is all about raising your confidence and becoming comfortable with your experiences enough to put it in the music.

What was the process of creating your latest project “Still Hurt”

AirPlane James: So after I released “100 Bandz” I decided that I wanted to go in a different direction, and really show that I am versatile and can do more. So that’s why I decided to get deep with this project.

In the project there are noticeably a lot of skits. What was the purpose of that?

AirPlane James: So actually, my manager suggested that I add more skits, which gives a sense of visuals without the actual videos. Like the transitions make sense that way, it’s like fans can really know what they are listening to because skits give that vibe.

What are some of your studio must haves?

Airplane James: I used to not have an answer for this question but now I need tea, water, medicine balls from Starbucks and a throat coat. Especially if it’s night time and I really want to sing.

What advice would you give to upcoming artists?

Airplane James: Stay true to who you are and don’t box yourself in, Keep being consistent. That’s life if a hooper hasn’t been in the gym but expects to sign with the Lakers. That doesn’t work, you have to just stay at it.

New Music Friday: The best new songs that dropped this week

best new songs

RemixdMag is back with the best songs for this week’s roundup! This time, we’ve spotlighted songs that touch on all facets of love and equality. While it’s easy to get lost in the wave of new music that drops every Friday, rest assured that we’ll always keep you updated. From 6lack’s first cut off his upcoming LP, Since I Have A Lover to Young Nudy‘s newest single (named after an odd food combination), this list is cooking with delectable tunes.

Asian Doll – “Quit Blaming”

Asian Doll calls out the men who fail to take accountability for their actions in “Quit Blaming.” Seemingly serving as a “clap back,” the bass-heavy trap cut finds the rapstress telling the male species that they shouldn’t place blame on the opposite sex. Instead, she says that they should own up to their faults. She follows up with comparisons between herself and the haters in question, implying that she’s a force to be reckoned with. “Can’t beat me and can’t join me/Bitches hating, ain’t got it in me.” The song overall demands others to put respect on her name.

6LACK Since I Have A Lover

While we wait for his highly-anticipated album, 6lack has given us a taste of what to expect with his new namesake single. He says “Since I Have A Lover” is a note to self. “I’m no longer who I was or where I was, and there’s a bigger purpose starting to reveal itself in the things I create,” he continues. “We are simply pushing love because it’s needed.” This time, the R&B singer marvels about a connection that makes him feel like he’s won big. Or, as the Atlanta-bred singer puts it, “Feel like a million bucks or something.” Rather than crooning over a dark-toned beat, he keeps it light with breezy guitar loops and a lofi production.

MVW, Lil Cherryand TiaCorine – “Tru Tru”

Lil Cherry and TiaCorine spit freely over a meditative-styled pop/trap beat curated by MVW in “Tru Tru.” In nearly three minutes, TiaCorine uses a woozy flow to deliver bars that evoke self-love. Similarly, Lil Cherry crosses between Korean and English, highlighting her fair share of braggadocious bars. MVW said about the record, “Things have been tightened over the last few years across the world, and with one another – I feel like friendships are truly being tested. A song like ‘Tru Tru’ is about giving people this psychedelic, anime trap dream world to escape into. That escapism feels especially important right now and can help bring us together.”

Jerome Dillard – “Euphoric Blues”

Jerome Dillard defines “Euphoric Blues” as a “notable mesh of classical and R&B music with a hint of hip-hop.” And given the violin-led soundscape and melodic delivery, it couldn’t ring truer. Kicking off with a symphony, the singer speaks about a woman who longs to live lavishly. In the beginning, Jerome Dillard highlights this woman’s expensive taste when he sings, “She wanna ride in the coup/With the doors like wings (yeah)/Wanna fly high in the passenger of that Beamer.” He labels her as a thief in the night, warning wooers to “open up your eyes/don’t you fall for her disguise.” Halfway in, the beat follows a more trap rhythm, calling on laser beams and a gun click to take “Euphoric Blues” home.

Young Nudy Peaches and Eggplants (feat. 21 Savage).”

Young Nudy and 21 Savage detail a sensual night with a bombshell that’s guaranteed to “make that booty move” in their trap-centered record “Peaches and Eggplant.” The album comes off his newest album, Gumbo. This foodie-inspired offering comes on the heels of his  EA Monster projectSonically, each record reps Atlanta’s style of music to the fullest. His high sex drive is accounted for by a stimulant that “keeps the engine running.” Using a speedy flow, Young Nudy spits, “Take hеr back a day, like I’m on the Jeep/Slow it down, baby, ride me like a Z.”

RAYE – “Ice Cream Man

RAYE’s emotional honesty and resilience shine through and through on this somber-styled record. Like the previous record mentioned, the singer calls out someone in the music industry with an ulterior motive. This person’s evil scheme is concealed with a work opportunity. But soon, RAYE discovers that this individual is looking to mess around. Obliviously blindsided, she sings, “How God damn dare you do that to me, really?” The singer compares his trickery to a beloved figure most kids run to during the summer. The man in question has taken advantage of her. Yet Raye fights back with her courageousness. The vulnerable hit comes off her album, My 21st Century Blues which touches on the ugly encounters she’s faced in life and the music industry.

Joey Bada$$ – “Show Me

The 2000 rapper asks his sweetheart to be honest about how she truly feels about him in “Show Me.” The subtle R&B mirrors Joey Bada$$’s sentimental lyrics. Instead of being vocal about it, he desires her to display her level of affection through actions. Following this, Joey Bada$$ assures his special lady that her words will be accepted without judgment. Although he knows that lust can be confused with love, the rapper wonders if the lines have been blurred. One notable line goes, “Cause transparency my love language/Can’t see the bigger picture if your vision tangled/Love is like glass, either break it or you stain it/These late-night conversations turn into arraignments, just tell me the truth.” He first teased the Serayah-led visual for “Show Me” through a sultry photoshoot with the songstress.

Firsttladyyredd – “Letter From My Heart”

The North Carolina-based rapstress channels her emotions into cut-throating bars in “Letter From My Heart.” In the record, she calls out her ex for sleeping around. She blames his jealousy over her ascension as the cause for this deception. Her bouncy flow can be heard over a victorious trap beat that underscores Firsttladyyredd’s optimistic spirit. She plans on getting revenge by dropping hits on them. Because of her determination, the femcee is living her best life. “I’m takin’ flights while you stuck in the city/I know you never wished that you switched on me,” she ridicules. The break-up served as a bigger blessing as Firsttladyyredd is elevating to new heights while he stays at the bottom.

Numbas recruits Kevin Gates for ominous new single “Gator”

Street-rapper Numbas is back with another sonorous anthem featuring Baton Rouge vet, Kevin Gates.

The two ‘gangster rappers’ combine effortlessly on the street and club-ready cut, “Gator”. Complementary and synergetic with their hard-shelled rhymes riddled in street lingo and kinetic energy, Numbas and Gates is the collaboration we never thought we needed.

Numbas recites witty lyrics such as “MJ with the 45, ‘Bron James coming chopper style, break dance make a n***a scram, Benjie Frank I rob the bank”. Gates then takes the track from Numbas mid-track in a rapid manner and elevates the street talk in an indignant manner sounding off on having to prove himself, and he is “Luca Brasi”, a reference to his project series and fictional Italian consigliere in the cult-classic film, The Godfather.

“The song is inspired by life on the Gulf Coast as a young hustler coming up thru the ranks dodging all the traps and pot holes set by mentally ill folks, all the while developing the clairvoyant ability to be able to read and determine the real folks from fraud” Numbas told Remixd Mag exclusively.

Produced by frequent collaborator and beat technician BBPTB, the beat has a snarling bass and triumphant horns that allow the two rappers to stamp their authority.

“Me and Gates being from similar backgrounds on the Gulf Coast made it a no brainier for him to feature on Gator” Numbas reveals.

Stream it below.

The single is available on You Tube
