Duceskii Duce is the latest Atlanta rapper on the rise

Duceskii Duce is an artist you should know. Originally from Chicago, IL and currently based in Atlanta, GA — he’s quickly on the rise and someone you should add to your radar. Influenced by artists such as Lil Wayne and Chief Keef, Duceskii takes his craft seriously and is ready for the world to hear it.

Currently, his upcoming project ‘Highspeed Ready’ is next on the list of anthems he’s getting ready to drop. On the way to all DSPs this summer, Duceskii is ready to take things to the next level with this project.

I am from Chicago, IL and I am currently based in Atlanta, GA.

My artist name is Duceskii or Duceskii Duce and my real name is Ishmail Locklin.

How would you describe your sound to readers who may not be familiar with you?
I would describe my sound to readers who may not be familiar with me as “skii.”

What’s one reason you are passionate about music and what inspires you?
One reason I am passionate about music is that I helped other artist become successful in the music industry. What inspires me is having someone quote something from my songs and use it in a conversation.

Who are some of your main musical influences?
Some of my main musical influences are Lil Wayne as where my word play comes from and Chief Keef as where many expressions for flows come from.

Tell us the name of the project you are currently promoting? What inspired this project?
The project I am currently promoting is named ‘Highspeed Ready.’ My lifestyle being raised in Chicago, IL inspired this project.

This project is set to drop July 27, 2023.

What is this project about in your own words?
This project is about not being stopped from anything or anyone in my path and having fun with no limitations (no rules).

I am currently working on a project with some features from industry artists including Kodie Shane, Bali Baby, S3nsi Molly, Luv Enchanting, Queen Key, Pap Chanel and Kidd Kenn. The producers for this project includes Zaytoven Beatz, Spvnk Onna Beat, and 808 Mafia.

What message do you hope fans take away from your music and from this project?
The message that I hope fans take away from my music is that anyone can do whatever they are committed to. The message I hope fans take away from this project is to live life regardless of what “anyone” has to say, live it like it is your world because that is when you have the most fun and the best memories.

UK-based Nigerian pop sensation DKIZZ releases latest single ‘My Lady’

Following the success of his breakout debut single ‘Show Me’, which has amassed over half a million plays online, and after teasing this new offering on TikTok and surpassing over five million views on the platform, Birmingham-based Nigerian Afropop sensation DKIZZ is excited to unveil his highly anticipated new track titled ‘MY LADY’. Serving as the lead single for his forthcoming debut EP Sabi Boy, which arrives in the summer via Be83 Music, ‘My Lady’ comes accompanied by a captivating new music video that brings the excellent amapiano-tinged offering further to life.

Inspiration behind the single

Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘My Lady’, Dkizz says, “I wrote ‘My Lady’ last summer, after I had just come out of a ‘situationship’ with someone that was pretending to be the best person I could have ever met. It was a hell of a ride, and we didn’t quite work out, but it showed me what I really want in a relationship, and that’s what birthed ‘My Lady’. Godfather Beats and I went back and forth trying to find the proper sounds to bring out the emotions I was feeling at the time, as I wanted to write a soulful song that could be also played in the club. I’m just so happy that people are dancing to the song all over TikTok, even though it was inspired by one of my worst relationship experiences”.

Hailing from Port Harcourt, and now shuttling between Birmingham and London, Dkizz is following in the footsteps of legendary Port Harcourt artists like Burna Boy, Mr Eazi, and Omah Lay that have been instrumental in taking afrobeats across the globe in the past few years, as he brings his own unique afropop fusion sound to the forefront of global music this year.
