In a recently released interview with All Hip Hop, the West African wordsmith details what inspired him to create the track:

“My music changes the room, that’s what it’s about. Same way you can be in a room full of gangsters, but you put on Michael Jackson, it’s hard for them not to move. Put on Prince, it’s hard for them not to move. There are certain artists, that when the music is played — Afrobeat is one of those spaces where as soon as that music comes on, it’s hard for you not to move. The atmosphere changes, so this is a song that changes the atmosphere. Makes you feel good.”

Following the launch of his restaurant Romeo’s Vegan Burgers, the Sierra Leonean native credits his time spent visiting monks at Buddhist Temples in China‘s Anhui Province for the new found ability to properly obtain a new level of spirituality through ancient meditation techniques. These practices have aided him tremendously in not only further developing his artistry, but jump started his journey into veganism; spawning the birth of his vegan burger brand after COVID-19 put his music career on hold.

joyner lucas

Two-time, Grammy-nominated hip-hop artist and entrepreneur Joyner Lucas released his new single “What’s That?,” which can be streamed HERE and is set to appear on his upcoming new album, Not Now, I’m Busy.

The New England native fires off sonically-charged bars and showcases his versatility in the electrifying track. On the new single, Joyner fact-checks Google when it comes to his net worth, enjoying the bachelor lifestyle and stacking up millions.

“What’s That?”  is the third release from Joyner’s forthcoming album, coming after he dropped “Blackout (feat Future)” in April and “Devil’s Work Part 2” in March. The latter was a thought-provoking single, where he rapped about changing the course of time and stopping Will Smith from slapping Chris Rock, preventing Kobe Bryant from taking a helicopter in January 2020 and eradicating the vape cartridges from Brittney Griner’s bag before her trip to Russia.

“What’s This?,” “Blackout” and “Devil’s Work Part 2” reaffirms Joyner’s ability to effortlessly flow over a range of beats. Whether it’s a club-banging sound or a menacing beat, he demonstrates a unique ability to adjust his cadence no matter the producer or fellow collaborator.

His upcoming album, Not Now, I’m Busy, will mark Joyner’s first album in three years. His last album ADHD, debuted in the Top-10 of the Billboard 200, earned RIAA gold certification, sparked a much-needed conversation about mental health and established a new template for success that independent artists could follow.

Beyond the release of his new album, the Boston native is gearing up for a massive year, considering his latest pivot into acting. He recently announced that he’ll be starring alongside Mark Wahlberg in an upcoming film, a role that Wahlberg personally cast him for.

5 things that can go wrong at an outdoor festival

What Can Go Wrong at an Outdoor Festival

Warm weather is the best weather for outdoor activities, and there’s nothing better than a music festival. As one of the organizers, your job is to ensure everyone’s attention stays on the performers. But if there’s chaos happening in the background, that might be kind of hard. Check out what can go wrong at an outdoor festival and put preventative procedures in place.

Bad Weather

Weather can be unpredictable no matter how closely meteorologists get in telling us what to expect. To be on the safe side, it’s always better to expect the unexpected. You can do this by providing some sort of shelter for everyone who comes out.

Station tents around the property. There needs to be one covering the stage and performance area, one stationed in the dining area, and another above the portable restrooms. Even if there’s no rain that day, the cover will be good protection from the blasting sun.

No Shows

No one showing is especially embarrassing for you and the performers. Performing to a non-existent crowd is bad for the artist’s ego, and it will reflect poorly on you. Artists and entertainers will think you don’t know how to organize a crowd.

Start advertising and promoting this event early and consistently. It needs to stay fresh in people’s minds. You can use all your social media platforms and recruit some sponsors to promote the festival, too.

Technology Failures

What good is an outdoor festival if no one can hear or see what’s happening on the stage? Avoid any technical failures the day of by doing consistent sound checks. Also, practice runs and perform steady maintenance checks on the equipment.

Run the checks the week before and the week of the festival to ensure that everything works. Have backup equipment ready to go because accidents can happen. Additionally, make sure you have a backup generator on location because a power outage is always a possibility.

Faulty Plumbing

Things can go wrong with porta-potties, and no one wants to deal with an issue that involves the restroom.

Station the portable restrooms in a shaded area so that the sun doesn’t beam down on them. Also, it’s best to keep them downhill in case of strong and high winds. You can also rent a holding tank for the event to make it even better.

Medical Emergencies

Medical emergencies can happen for many reasons. Bring on staff members and volunteers who are CPR certified and see about getting a few paramedics on site.

You may be able to find paramedics and firefighters who could volunteer their services for the day to ensure you have instantaneous assistance. Plus, they get to enjoy the show for free, and that may sweeten the pot for them to join. Also, include police officers for everyone’s safety.

Knowledge is power. Knowing what can go wrong at an outdoor festival means you know how to make the event successful.
