North Inglewood served as the backdrop for Booker Forte’s early years. Growing up in the vibrant neighborhood of La Brea and Centinela, specifically at Roger’s Park, Booker’s journey eventually led him to Las Vegas. His arrival in the city was marked by a significant milestone—a soloist dance contract with Cirque Du Soleil.
“My artist name is Booker Forte’, same as my real name. Booker Forte’ has stage name vibes,” Booker shares, embracing his authentic self while exuding a magnetic aura that captivates his audience. The name resonates with his artistic identity, effortlessly merging his personal and creative realms.
When it comes to his music, Booker Forte (@bookerforte) creates for two distinct audiences. “I make music for dancers of all backgrounds on one side and for thinkers who want to start a conversation on the other,” he explains. As a dancer and a thinker with a wealth of life experience, his music becomes a channel for expression, transcending boundaries and sparking meaningful dialogues.
Passion drives Booker’s musical journey, rooted in a setback that turned into an opportunity. “I’m passionate about music because I lost three YouTube channels with 30,000 subscribers back when I was doing my freestyle/choreography videos,” he reveals. Determined to provide danceable music free from the complications and restrictions associated with record labels, Booker embarked on a path where he could create songs that bring joy to dancers without the fear of copyright strikes.
Inspiration finds its way to Booker through the dance beats and wild nonsensical style lyrics of Missy Elliott. Additionally, he draws influence from iconic stage performers such as Michael Jackson, James Brown, Ginuwine, and Usher. These artists shape his creative vision, igniting a spark within him to deliver electrifying performances.
Currently, Booker Forte is preparing for the release of “Shake Dat a$$,” a track from his debut album, “One For The Books.” The album’s title cleverly plays on his name, signifying a memorable and remarkable milestone in his career.
“This project is inspired by commercial acceptance,” Booker explains. “I wanted to make music people would accept. I can’t buy millions of downloads/streams. I have to appeal to the general masses and their ear and taste of music. This is that album.” With “One For The Books,” he aims to create an accessible and enjoyable musical experience that resonates with a broad audience.
The eagerly anticipated “Shake Dat a$$” is dropping on Memorial Day, May 29th. Booker shares his motivation behind the track saying, “Shake Dat a$$ is about the lady hustlers,” he tells Remixd Mag. “I live in Las Vegas, and I see their hustle. This song is to cheerlead their entrepreneurial spirit.”
With its infectious rhythm and empowering message, the song celebrates the resilience and ambition of hardworking women.
For Booker Forte, “One For The Books” represents a grand introduction to the world. It serves as a testament to his versatility, showcasing his range of styles, production tastes, and thought-provoking lyrics. Listeners will embark on a sonic journey, discovering the multifaceted talents of an artist unafraid to explore uncharted musical territories.
Reflecting on his aspirations for the album, Booker hopes that fans will recognize his dedicated pursuit of musical expression. “I hope fans take away that Booker Forte’ did his thing. He didn’t start making music seriously until COVID-19 in 2020, after dancing his whole life. He did his thing,” he states with conviction.
