After providing opening support during the European leg of Chris Brown’s “Under The Influence” Tour and impressively DJ’ing the Red Carpet Live! pre-show event at this year’s BET Awards, Jae Murphy (@JaeMurphy) is commemorating his recently announced NYC residency at Deluxx Fluxx with the release of the single “Rich Black Poor Black,” crafted by the Grammy-nominated production duo Mike & Keys (@Mike_n_Keys).

Inspired by his business partner and friend Luke Lawal’s (@lukelawal) financial literacy book of the same name, this follow-up to Jae’s empowering anthem “Hood Girl Magic” features additional instrumentation from MyGuyMars (@MYGUYMARS), co-founder of 1500 or Nothin, and background vocals by Nefertitti Avani (@NefertittiAvani).

Inspirations From ‘Rich Black Poor Black’ Book

“I wanted to make a soundtrack that reflects a true depiction of the outlook a lot of minorities have when it comes to finances,” Murphy said in a statement to Medium Creative Agency. “I also took the time to give a blueprint on how to save money with a long-term goal of building wealth. While writing this record there were things I had to unlearn about my own perspectives and adapt to the words I was able to creatively articulate through lyricism. Let’s continue to spread the right type of information to communities of color and successfully reshape the course of history.”

This song written and performed by Jae Murphy has become the official soundtrack for the book and is also molded to be song of hope, inspiration, & also educational guidance for future next steps to ensure the social change for generational wealth for all urban communities worldwide.
