Queens artist RTC shares new single “What A Lie”

RTC

Rashawn, known by his artistic moniker RTC, is a rising talent hailing from Queens, New York, and currently, he’s found his creative haven in Atlanta. His music encapsulates a unique blend of moody, nostalgic vibes that captivate listeners, taking inspiration from musical legends like Sade and Michael Jackson.

“I got my artist name from my initials,” RTC explains, shedding light on the origins of his unique moniker. RTC’s music is a testament to his passion, which he describes as one of the reasons he wakes up every morning. With a familial lineage deeply rooted in music, it’s no surprise that RTC was destined to be an artist and producer. “My father’s a DJ, my grandfather was a bass guitar musician, and I’m blessed to have similar talents,” he shares.

RTC draws inspiration from some of the most influential artists, citing Michael Jackson, Kanye West, and Travis Scott as major influences. These musical icons have left an impression on his sound and approach to music creation.

His latest project, “What A Lie,” dropped on October 13, 2023, and it’s a testament to RTC’s ability to transform inspiration into music. The idea for this single was sparked during a Sunday night spent watching Sade’s live concert videos. “I heard the song ‘Like a Tattoo’ by Sade and I was mesmerized by her angelic voice,” RTC recounts. The magic of that moment inspired him to sample the song in Logic, weaving it into a new, captivating vibe.

As for the message he hopes fans take away from his music, RTC emphasizes the importance of honesty and communication in relationships. “To be honest with your significant other. Don’t lie to them; the truth always comes to light,” he advises. His project “What A Lie” delves into a tale of relationship deception, highlighting the repercussions of dishonesty and the importance of staying faithful and treating your partner with respect.

With upcoming projects on the horizon, RTC is set to release “For Real,” featuring Kre8, on November 27. His dedication to delivering music with a message is a testament to his unwavering commitment to his craft.
