best new music

Remixd Magazine has categorized some of the best new music this week to add to your playlist. From Beyoncé‘s “My House” to Antha Pantha‘s EP, Feline Season, our choices will get your blood pumping and take your confidence to a whole new level.

Read our list below:

Beyoncé- “My House”

On the heels of her film Renaissance, Beyoncè has released a new single called “My House.” The energetic drumline-inspired trap offering finds Queen Bey asserting control over the narrative others like to fabricate. Additionally, Beyoncè challenges the critics to keep “talkin’ out their mouth,” rapping, “Don’t make me get up out of my seat/Don’t make me come up off of this beat.” By the end of the record, Beyoncè advocates for peace and unity. Bey also manifests a life of luxury by envisioning that she already has everything she’s ever wanted. There’s even a spoken word monologue. “Lend your soul to intuitions/RENAISSANCE, new revolution,” Beyoncè says. “Pick me up even if I fall/Let love heal us all.”

Tyla – “On and On”

Tyla thinks back to nights when she’d “party like it’s ’95” in her new dreamy afrobeat meets R&B pop offering “On and On.” In the record, the “Water” hitmaker uses avid storytelling to explain how it used to be when she attended parties. The singer describes her time at these lit events via these lyrics: “The DJ’s playin’ all of these songs for me/You gotta drag me off the floor.” Similarly, Tyla makes the most of these carefree moments, crooning, “Let’s make the party go on all night long.”

Rubi Rose – “Cherry”

Rubi Rose’s aggressive trap cut “Cherry” showcases how the rapstress is not your average female. In minutes, Rubi Rose speaks on her charm, ambitious spirit, boss mentality, and money-making methods. Lyrics like “I ain’t talkin’ ’bout no groceries, it’s green up in my bag (My bag)/If you see that n***a close to me, that gun be by his flag,” highlights the song’s underlying theme.

Kyle Dixon – “Let’s Get It On”

Kyle Dixon asserts that this love is a forever thing via “Let’s Get It On.” Over the soulful soundscape, the singer drops mesmerizing lyrics to get his lover in the mood, crooning, “You’re giving your all/I’m giving you overtime/We’re doing enough/So we can enjoy the ride/Now let’s get it on!” As the song progresses, Kyle Dixon continues with the sensual lyrics about his and his lover’s rendezvous. He describes the moment as such “Just got out a bubble bath I’m glittering/Let’s make sure that dress of yours don’t go to waste/(You giving me love)(you giving me love)/I don’t even know what we’re about to do/Wherever you go you got an eye on you.” The singer’s new song can be found on his upcoming EP If Only My Jeans Could Talk, which drops on January 19.

BigXthaPlug – The Biggest

BigXthaPlug showcases why he’s currently The Biggest MC in the hip-hop industry in his new EP. Within seven singles, the Texas rhymer uses his signature cut-throat twang to highlight his upbringing, success, gratitude, and more. In The Biggest, BigXthaPlug also calls the bluff of his opps and challenges them to meet him outside. Similarly, the rapper ignores the charades by comparing his accolades to theirs. For example, in his hit record “Mmhmm,” BigXthaPlug spits, “So much chicken on me, could’ve went bought a Williams, a Rudy’s, a big-ass Popeyes/And a whole different bracket, this life is emetic/If you hit me for ‘bows, then you know that I’m taxin’.” The single samples The Whispers’ “And the Beat Goes On.” Guest appearances on The Biggest include Offset, Finesse2Tymes, and Ro$ama.

Antha Pantha – Feline Season

Antha Pantha’s Feline Season is a 12-track offering that pushes others to be unapologetically themselves. Honing hits like “Yayo,” “Real B*tches,” and “Brick By Brick” featuring Huntdawgg, Feline Season comprises a slew of singles with energetically charged soundscapes, confident lyrics, and versatile deliveries like in “Sexual Vanilla” and “Miami” for example. Avid storytelling is another one of Antha’s skills and is highlighted in her record “BWA.” Between hard-hitting bars and silhouette singing, Antha Pantha showcases her adaptability to any beat she’s on. Sonically, Feline Season crosses between soulful R&B, house, pop, trap, and experimental hip-hop production.

Beyoncé releases new single “My House” in celebration of opening weekend

Beyonce

In an era of surprise single and album drops and secret music releases, fans have grown accustomed to being caught off-guard by their favorite artists. With that being said, the Queen herself Beyoncé does it again! The Mother of the house of Renaissance surprises millions of followers with a new sizzling single, “My House”. In doing so, she shares it in celebration of the opening weekend of her highly anticipated concert film, “Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé”.

Welcome to the Renaissance & more!

Arriving December 1st, same day as the film hit theaters, the trendy track “My House” can be heard playing during the credits of the movie. In fact, this is the first taste at new music since she unleashed the Madonna-assisted remix to the chart-topping hit, “Break My Soul”, the viral “Wetter” mix of “Cuff It”, and the Kendrick Lamar revamp of “America Has A Problem” – all releases that arrived on Renaissance. Serving as her latest offering since her 2022 GRAMMY Award winning Renaissance album, “My House” is co-written and co-produced by herself and The-Dream.

For the film-featured single Beyoncé ironically ditches the heavy electronic, house, and disco-driven sounds that have taken over her recent projects. Instead, she opts in for the energy and sound of marching bands from historically black colleges and universities. As we know, this isn’t the first time she has drawn inspiration from HBCU marching bands. We witnessed it as it was highlighted by her iconic 2018 Coachella performance, best known by “Beychella”.

Dream Team: Queen Bey and The-Dream

The marching band theme is necessary as it pairs perfectly with the song’s lyrics and musical arrangement. The production features a blaring brass section and a snare drum that dominantly drives the beat. The first 30 seconds of the four-minute track are filled with chanting, snare crackles, bass drum pounding, and heavy horns. Beyoncé matches the ensemble’s excitement as she rhymes about spending. Known for keeping fans on their feet and pivot, for the chorus and following verses, The-Dream returns to the familiar electronic dance ambiance of his Renaissance successes like “Break My Soul” and “Alien Superstar.”

However, the song sticks to Beyoncé’s signature style and vibe. Her powerful yet sultry, silky smooth vocals highlight the lyric’s emotional experience. Although the artwork is accompanied by her decked out in a metallic body armor reminiscent of the Afrofuturistic suits worn during her tour, Beyoncé pays homage to her ever-evolving craft and artistry throughout the creation of the release.

Beyoncé bridges the gap in “My House”

While “My House” may dip and dab in Beyoncé’s creativity, it is a testament to her versatility as an artist. In addition to her deep appreciation for black culture and the HBCU tradition. Fans and critics alike have already shared positive praise backing up the arrival of her film. Some are actually already dubbing it as a future marching anthem for the masses. Nonetheless, Beyoncé’s “My House” is a perfect musical reflection of her new concert film, which follows the 39-date world tour of her Grammy-winning album. It highlights the essence of black culture by embracing the HBCU tradition while also reminiscent of the Renaissance realm. In addition to showcasing the superstar’s unmatched vocal range and artistry.

The raved release continues to confirm Beyoncé’s status as a forever-relevant artist. She constantly pushing the boundaries of her art and creating conversations that go way beyond the world of music. “My House” is a perfect gift for the holidays, and we’re all here for it. Overall, this is Beyoncé’s house and we’re just living in it! Press play on the hot new hit here at REMIXD Magazine. Lastly, let us know your thoughts here in the comments.
