Interview: Saint Pierre breaks boundaries with ‘Only The Surface’ EP and teases upcoming single “Finale”

Saint Pierre

Virginia Beach native Saint Pierre (@saintxpierre) is making waves with his recent EP, ‘Only The Surface,’ released just last month. The 3-song EP showcases Saint Pierre’s talents as an artist. Standout track, “2DC,” is Saint Pierre’s personal favorite from the project, showcasing his versatility and unique sound. Moreover, he’s gearing up for his first single of the year, “Finale,” featuring close friend OSHEA IV. In addition, he’s delving into the world of fashion with his clothing brand, Glacier! Saint Pierre gives us a glimpse into his journey and artistic vision in multiple ways.

“I don’t want to pick up any piece of music that I make and say to yourself that I sound exactly the same from beginning to end.”

– Saint Pierre

The artist’s foray into music is driven by a genuine love for the entire creative process, even the challenging aspects. “When it comes to music, I have really fallen in love with the entire process (even the most frustrating parts). It gives me the space to create something new every time I’m in the booth,” Saint Pierre shared with Remixd Magazine. Inspired by artists who continually push boundaries and explore different sounds, he aims to cultivate the same versatility in his own music.

Saint Pierre stepped outside of his comfort zone with ‘Only The Surface’

‘Only The Surface’ is a testament to Saint Pierre’s willingness to step outside his comfort zone. The EP’s three tracks challenged him as an artist, allowing him to experiment with a sound he had always wanted to explore. Taking a bold “F*** it” approach, he navigated through the recording sessions. Earning nods from collaborators who initially found the new direction intriguing. “I feel like I was looked at weird at first during the recording session, but everyone caught the vibe by the end of everything,” he said.

Furthermore, in discussing what he wants listeners to take away from his music, Saint Pierre emphasizes his commitment to avoiding one-dimensionality. “I just want people to understand that I try my best to NOT be one dimensional and I want to explore as many sounds as possible,” he continued. When asked about his favorite song of 2023, Saint Pierre proudly points to “2DC.” He sees boundless possibilities in how the song can resonate with listeners and impact their lives.

Moreover, his eclectic taste in music is reflected in his everyday playlist. Ranging from Drake and Larry June to the electronic vibes of Dabeull’s “Intimate Funk” album.

Furthermore, to keep up with Saint Pierre, follow him on Instagram and Twitter @saintxpierre. For a deeper dive into his fashion endeavors, connect with his clothing brand Glacier on Instagram @glacier.clothingco and visit the official website at https://glacierclothingco.com/.

Interview: Ty Lo talks NYC vibes and drill beats in latest release “STAR”

Ty Lo

New York-based artist Ty Lo (@Thereal_TyLo) recently dropped his track “STAR,” on September 29th, 2023, and it’s already making waves in the hip-hop scene. The track is a high-energy anthem that seamlessly blends Jersey and NYC drill vibes with classic 50 Cent samples. In a recent interview with Remixd Magazine, Ty Lo opened up about his musical journey, the inspiration behind “STAR,” and his unique approach to the drill genre.

Ty Lo’s passion for music traces back to his childhood, as he credits his cousin and business partner, Jodi Fitz, along with his deep-rooted love for music. “I’ve always loved music and used to memorize songs off of one or two listens sometimes,” Ty Lo shared. His transition from a music enthusiast to an artist began when he decided to share his own story through songwriting, turning it into a therapeutic outlet that eventually grew into a full-blown passion.

Ty Lo’s inspiration behind the song

“STAR” represents a shift in Ty Lo’s musical style, showcasing his ability to create an aggressive track while staying true to his laid-back personality. “I’m really a chill laid back person, but sometimes I get in a mood where I just feel like venting,” Ty Lo explained. From an artistic standpoint, the track is designed to make listeners move, whether in the gym for motivation, the club for dancing, or the car for turning up. Ty Lo distinguishes himself from typical drill songs by steering clear of references to gang activity, opting instead to convey his message without mentioning specific individuals, alive or deceased.

When asked about the message he wants listeners to take away from his music, Ty Lo kept it simple: “I honestly want people to take away whatever they take away from my music. I don’t have a specific expectation from people outside of the genuine feeling they get listening to my music.”

In terms of musical influences, Ty Lo revealed that his favorite track of 2023 was NBA Youngboy’s “Testimony.” His everyday playlist features heavy hitters like YB, Lil Durk, Drake, Trippie Redd, and, in the humblest way, himself. Fans can connect with Ty Lo on all social media platforms under the handle @Thereal_TyLo.

“STAR” is not just a song; it’s a testament to Ty Lo’s evolution as an artist and his commitment to delivering drill beats with a unique twist. With his distinct style and authentic approach, Ty Lo is undoubtedly a rising star in the New York hip-hop scene.
