Read our selections below:

Beyoncé – Cowboy Carter

Fusing country, house, R&B, and more — Beyoncé’s new album, Cowboy Carter, is filled with songs that take inspiration from Queen Bey’s personal experiences and other hit singles from notorious country artists. Comprised of hit singles “Texas Hold ‘Em” and “16 Carriages,” Bey’s 27-track offering shines light on African American country artists like Reyna Roberts, Linda Martell, and Tanner Adell, to name a few.

Furthermore, Cowboy Carter includes some covers as well like Dolly Parton‘s “Jolene” and The Beatles’ “Blackbird.” Cowboy Carter was birthed out of “an experience that [she] had years ago where [she] did not feel welcomed.” Overall, the album is a nod to all genres and Bey’s musical flair.

.idk and Joey Bada$$ – “DENIM”

Delivering some of their most hardest bars about their relentless grind, charm, and retaliation methods, .idk and Joey Bada$$ brings listeners back to the golden era of hip-hop via “DENIM.” Over the bass-heavy jazzy boom-bap production, .idk raps about making business moves behind the scenes before addressing the opps. In addition, the F65 rapper tells haters never to “disrespect my [his] intellect” and follows his not-so-nice rhymes with self-praise.

However, when Joey Bada$$ hops on the mic, he raps about his lavish lifestyle and success. After, Joey Bada$$ forewarns his opps before things get ugly. “Copped the 911 just to tell these n***as eat my dust/Keep a heater tucked for n***as sneaking up,” he spits. “He think he tough/If he try my hand then imma call his bluff.”

Dee-1 and Raheem DeVaughn – “Purify My Eyes”

Dee-1 and Raheem DeVaughn’s “Purify My Eyes” bring attention to societal issues and media corruption. Addressing the hype behind BBLs, owning expensive items, mindless scrolling, and more, Dee-1 hopes that his rhymes will open people’s eyes so necessary changes can take place for a more positive surrounding.

The MC speaks about his own experiences with treachery as well, rapping, “I seen my business partner steal so much money from me, then run and hide/But I seen God’s word; and he say he ain’t boutta let that slide.” Furthermore, “Purify My Eyes” merges jazz and hip-hop arrangements.

Chris Patrick – “Take Time For Myself”

Chris Patrick‘s brooding jazzy hip-hop cut, “Take Time For Myself,” is about temporarily stepping away from loved ones for your mental health. In nearly three minutes, the New Jersey MC speaks about a few obstacles he overcomes in life. From seeing friends turn into foes to dealing with others who seem to be praying on his downfall, Chris Patrick decides to get some well-deserved space to recuperate. “I really believe paranoia creeping around/I really wanna be so much more for those around/But right now I need to take time for myself,” he spits.

As the song continues, he also shows how success often comes with envy, ill intent, and more. Lyrics like “I know the truth bout it all/Greed was the root of the problem. Nobody left here to solve/Cuz threw me out to the dawgs,” brings the narrative home. Although he saves the people he cares about, it’s time to be his own hero. Furthermore, Chris Patrick’s new song can be found on his upcoming mixtape, THE CALM, which drops on April 3.

YTB Fatt – “Same”

Interpolating R. Kelly and Usher‘s 2007 hit single, YTB Fatt’s “Same” finds the Loaf Boyz Ventures rapper discovering that his significant other isn’t as loyal as she seems. Within minutes, YTB Fatt uses avid storytelling to detail their first encounter, saying that she was there before the fame. Moreover, YTB Fatt reveals that his girlfriend is romantically involved with his friend also.

Furthermore, despite this, YTB Fatt wants them to keep seeing each other, rapping, “Whole time, she f***in’ with five, Joe/I couldn’t believe my eyes/I caught the h*e by surprise” and “I like how she stayin’ down with the kid, for that, I’ma make her my b***h.”

Mozzy and Eric Bellinger – “Jaded”

Serving as a highlight off his upcoming album, Children of the Slums, Mozzy’s “Jaded” is a moderate hip-hop meets R&B offering that finds the rapper spreading awareness about street life and how sometimes it’s hard to break away from. However, Mozzy’s introspective rhymes pushes others in this lifestyle to find a way out. He spits, “Weight of the world, stand thorough is the objective. Correction is needed but hard to see from this perspective.”

“Nobody born in the slums has a choice,” Mozzy told Audible Treats about the record. “Born into those kinds of circumstances, it’s hard to imagine a way to get out. They don’t have anyone to look out for them or to show them a better way. I’m still looking out for all the children of the slums. I am there for them because I know if the situation was flipped, they would do the same for me.”

Homixide Gang – “Hi-Voltage”

Homixide Gang’s charged-up trap offering “Hi-Voltage” is loaded with flex-worthy rhymes, braggadocio, and tough talk aimed at their opposing forces. In under two minutes, Homixide Meechie and Homixide Beno! rap about bagging women, their luxurious lifestyle, and escaping reality through their vices. “Hi-Voltage” finds the dynamic duo settling the score with their opps and staying loyal to the soil as well. Lyrics like “I’m with the t**ts and we blazin’ like flames/Slime one of us and we slide with a stick/Get to the money we stackin’ it up,” bring the narrative home.

Buddy – Don’t Forget to Breathe

Actor and Grammy-nominated artist Buddy has released his highly anticipated studio album, Don’t Forget To Breathe via EMPIRE. The album’s title holds both literal and figurative significance for Buddy and his fans, serving as a reminder to pause, reflect, and appreciate the present moment. Moreover, this phrase encourages individuals to take a moment for themselves and to practice mindfulness, a concept Buddy embodies with his carefree demeanor. Featuring 12 tracks with collaborations from Kent Jamz, BJ The Chicago Kid, Pineapple Citil, Garren, Smino, Cedxric, and Huey Briss, the album exudes feel-good vibes that set the tone for the rest of the year.

That Mexican OT – “Kick Doe Freestyle”

That Mexican OT proudly reps his hometown of Bay City, and in his new video for “Kick Doe Freestyle,” he kicks it Texas-style with OGs Homer and Mone. “Kick Doe Freestyle” is a highlight from OT’s new album, Texas Technician. A slo-mo, screwed up anthem produced by veteran Houston beatsmith Cory Mo, “Kick Doe Freestyle” unites OT with two uncles from his hometown, Homer, aka Homer Pimpson, and Mone, veterans in the Texas rap scene who specialize in getting throwed. Moreover, OT steps in for the anchor verse, twirling his signature tongue-twisters in a pitched-down baritone.

Heembeezy – “Mike Phelps”

Heembeezy (@_realheembeezy), the rapper known for viral hits such as, “Wess Yo Name,” and “Really Her,” is continuing to make a buzz as he’s back with another catchy track, “Mike Phelps.” The latest single showcases Heembeezy’s capability of creating a hit song as he fires off bar for bar in his signature flow. The upbeat track finds Heembeezy rapping about his newfound lifestyle of getting money, and women. Moreover, after his incredible performance at Rolling Loud, he’s ready to prove what else he can do.

D Scott – “Can’t Wait”

Cease – “The Chase”

Beyoncé teams up with Lyft to offer half off rides, in celebration of ‘Cowboy Carter’ release

Beyoncé

Riding the “Cowboy Carter” Wave: Beyhive, Lyft, and Uber

Yeehawww! Get a Lyft from Beyoncé following the arrival of Act II – Cowboy Carter. In the electrifying hive of anticipation that surrounds a Beyoncé album release, the digital world is at a standstill – WOLRD STOP! Carry on. Not only by the mere mention of new music, but by each beat and move in the strategic promotional dance linking superstar stardom that is Queen Bey with savvy consumerism.

Nowadays, album releases have the ability to create full-fledged cultural events, complete with merchandising, memes, and more. Possibly most importantly—engagement from on-demand service providers, thanks to the combined power of social media and streaming platforms.

Lyft has entered the chat!

For example, ride-sharing giants Lyft and Uber have jumped into a promotional rodeo to catch the attention of the Beyhive ahead of the upcoming release of Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter. In the wise words of Beyoncé, “always stay gracious, best revenge is your paper”. Cowboy Carter is out now, March 29th courtesy of Parkwood and Columbia.

In doing so, Lyft has rode onto the scene offering Cowboy Carter cowboys and cowgirls nothing less than a ride of a lifetime. Riders who use the code ‘SPAGHETTI24’ on March 29th, on the rave release day of Cowboy Carter, will enjoy a substantial fifty percent off on their trips. The offer is good until 11:59 PM and is good for one ride, with the discount capping at $20.

Lyft doubled down on the sass after a fan suggested “Now offer 50% off rides for 3/29 to whack em.” However, Lyft teased “other code drops soon!” Additionally, Lyft responded to Uber’s announcement on Twitter, saying “crumbs were left,” which many took as a bold reply. Honestly, this promotional tool was masterfully crafted to elevate the listening party experience. Serving as a sophisticated sidekick for confident riders traveling through the sonic surroundings of Beyoncé’s soundscape.

Beyoncé, Uber, and Lyft are calling all cowgirls and cowboys

Not only have the discounts drawn attention, though; Lyft’s appetizing response to Uber’s offer on Twitter generated a lively debate online. Surprisingly sassy for a company that has always leaned more toward the “ride” side, it shows the kind of competitiveness Beyoncé can motivate. It also makes us wonder what lengths brands will go to in order to gain recognition from the Queen, as well as what lengths they will stop at to get a piece of her spotlight.

Uber is offering “16 Carriages”

Uber, not one to be sidelined at the roundup, doubles down on its ten-gallon hat with a discount of their own. The fitting featured promo code titled ’16CARRIAGES,’ offers 16% off rides during the album’s blessed window of release. Riders can use the one-time code from 9 PM EST on March 28th to 12 AM. EST on March 30th. For Uber, the discount caps at $16, and users can only use the code once. While their percentage may be gentler, Uber’s roots are deep, and one should never underestimate the effect of a trusted stallion in the rough-and-ready world of city rides.

With that being said, it’s not just about price or convenience. It’s about a common experience, an intangible bond with the journey of an artist that we incorporate into our own lives. For the Beyhive, the purpose is to put together a night that pays tribute to and celebrates the world of the diva herself, that Beyoncé has effortlessly and expertly backed and built around Cowboy Carter.

Media meets marketing mayhem thanks to Beyoncé

The timing of all this, rooted in the golden ground of digital debate, strengthens the mutually beneficial relationship that exists between brands and the cultures they cater to. It illustrates the idea that staying relevant in this era of one second impressions and fast consumer interactions requires more than just strategically placed advertisements. It also requires participating in the story as it develops in real time and connecting with an audience that expects authenticity and creativity.

This stagecraft is more than just business. It’s a telling pop-culture story in real time. We can’t help but admire the fact that a music release has arranged a monumental movement between two industry heavyweights for our entertainment and benefit. It is, at its core, a win for the fans—enhanced, not distracted, by the capitalist fury it has created.

Appreciation of artistry

Nonetheless, we can only look on in wonder as we travel through our respective rides to the West in our ears, searching for someone to tango through this twangy realm that Beyoncé has created. In fact, we can also sit back and appreciate how brands have serenaded their artistry with a cultural connection that elevates the entire experience.

For the Beyhive, it seems, the music in the air now resonates with a deeper, partnership-infused proposition. It’s not just about getting from point A to point B—it’s about how we accompany each other on the remarkable ride that is life. This time, it appears the vehicles we choose to help us on our way—a humble Lyft or a proven Uber—are as much a part of the mix as the music itself.
