Breakout artist, Kofi (@jmgkofi) has even making waves for quite some time now. On Friday, he makes his musical return with his latest single, “We Don’t Make Sense.” The now Afrobeats artist takes small detour back to his hip-hop & r&b roots for this single as he is currently balancing out more than one career during this release.
The songs’s title “We don’t make sense” perfectly depicts the message of the song. Throughout the song, Kofi details the ups and downs of a toxic relationship. He utilizes a fusion of sounds throughout the track. Additionally, he showcases his lyricism as he switches between rapping and singing throughout the song. For this release, he also shared an accompanying visualizer. Throughout the visual, he is seen going through the motions within the topic relationship. You can watch the song’s video down below.

Furthermore, Kofi has made waves in more ways than one. Aside from music, he is a professional volleyball player. His volleyball career began in ninth grade. His skill set lead him to being recruited on a collegiate level playing at The University Of Californian Los Angeles. He is currently still maintaining his athleticism. Currently, he is training with team Canada for a spot during the Summer Olympic Games. Additionally, he is making history throughout the sport. He recently set the new record for the highest spike touch in the history of the sport. Standing at 6”8, there’s not much he can’t already do.

The Memphis rhymers’ 17-track offering features Lil Durk, Morgan Wallen, Rob49, Chris Brown, YTB Fatt, and Kevo Muney. In addition, Speak Now contains his hit singles “Bussin,” “Tryna Make Sure,” and “Play Da Fool.” According to Moneybagg Yo’s IG post, Speak Now is “for my [his] day one core fan base, the ones who was there since the beginning!!“
ARTZ – ROAR
Despite going on a 3-month hiatus, ARTZ channels into his lyrical prowess like he’s never left, especially on ROAR. Comprising five heavy-hitting singles, ROAR, which stands for Redemption Outweighs Any Revenge, accentuates the New York MC’s gift of gab. From the Capone-N-Noreaga-sampled single “Autograph Raps” to the ambitious-ridden cut “22 Two’s,” ARTZ’s new project highlights the rapper’s trials and tribulations, perseverance, unwavering determination, and much more. On ROAR, ARTZ challenges other hip-hop artists to push the boundaries instead of following musical trends. Songs like “Caviar Dreams” pinpoint the rapper’s humbleness, optimism, self-confidence, and how he “lives out his life as a movie/go premiere it at Cannes.”
Furthermore, ARTZ spreads life-changing advice to listeners and encourages their efforts along the way. His rhymes also delve into societal issues. In the aforementioned single, he raps, “It’s nothing better than an executed plan and the thoughts that one day you’ll understand/Whether you derive from the Motherland, you’re Afro-Latina, or you’re trappin’ in Japan/Israel, the pyramids, Giza, or Iran/Are you at war with yourself or the man?”ROAR, in its entirety, is a thought-provoking project that pushes for better change.
Forest Claudette – “Moonlight”
To coincide with Pride Month, Forest Claudette has released their transparent alternative R&B offering “Moonlight.” Inspired by A24’s 2016 film, which carries the same name — the guitar-kissed single finds Forest Claudette letting listeners into their world. The lyrics highlight the Jupiter artists’ empowering journey toward self-discovery. “Ain’t no room when I was young/I was hoopin’ I was fitting right in,” they sing. “Biding questions bit my tongue/Inconclusive, hallelujah/Didn’t even know myself/Didn’t wanna know myself/Like who am I ‘pposed to tell/Don’t you know better.” The singers’ new song ultimately pushes others to live in their truth.
Claudette shares, “Four years ago, I saw the film Moonlight for the first time, and it changed my life. I picked up my guitar, and this idea poured out of me. I’d never felt like I had the space to hold that side of myself before, and even still, it’s taken all this time to feel comfortable, safe, and secure enough to share it with the world.”
MESSIAH! – “Burden of Truth (feat. Malaya)”
MESSIAH! seeks to blow off some steam after grinding all year round in his laid-back jazz meets hip-hop cut “Burden of Truth (feat. Malaya).” As the bass blares through the speaker, the Charlotte rhymer delivers bars about racing against time to accomplish his dreams. By putting Him first, MESSIAH! gets closer to success. Lyrics like “It’s a knockout round/In my bout with death/Until he come around again/And when he do/Remember I know how to swing,” bring the narrative home.
Malaya uses her honeyed register to sing about being on the path to greatness. The indie-R&B crooner talks about winning in life because she’s the narrator of her story. “I hold the truth in my hands/Life in my skin,” she delivers, along with “Nobody stop me/’Cause I’m close to celebrate.”
9lives – “NUK3 (feat. Lazer Dim 700 and Luci4)”
“NUK3” shows opps and naysayers alike that 9lives, Lazer Dim 700, and Luci4 always stand on business. As the 9lives-produced hyper pop meets cloud rap cut sounds off, Lazer Dim 700 and producer-rapper Luci4 drop ruthless bars about popping off on their haters. Similarly, both artists use vivid lyrics to explain how they’ll get back at them for talking trash. “Bounce open his s**t b***h/I’m aiming for your head,” Luci4 rhymes. “Marksman ion miss s**t/Fill a n***a with that lead/He was talking b***h s**t/They won’t miss him when he dead.”
Lazer Dim makes it known that he’s “ready for war.” The Atlanta rapper shows others the depths of his success by touching on his luxurious lifestyle and crowded concerts, proving he’s in his own lane. “N***a know I’m outside ain’t even put up,” he lyrically retorts. “S**t getting booked up I got shows/Hotels up now 20 floors.”
Rob49 – “Off Dat Drink”
Rob49 illustrates a crazy night he had while being heavily intoxicated in his bass-heavy trap cut “Off Dat Drink.” Seemingly mirroring the tempo in the Lil Wayne-assisted song “Wassam Baby,” the New Orleans rhymer spits over the beat with precision. In “Off Dat Drink,” Rob49 talks about jumping bones with his haters’ girlfriend and other beautiful women who caught his eye. The aggressive banger also sees Rob49 dropping flex-worthy bars about his riches, top-tier drip, and much more. He reveals the reason behind his relentless grinding. “My jacket Palm Angel/I’m dripped in new Celine,” he raps. “I’m putting on for the team/I’m a do my damn thing.” Rob49’s latest offering comes on the heels of his featured verse on Moneybagg Yo’s “Bussin.”
Nomani’s long awaited album “DOPAMINE” is finally here. On Friday, The 28-year old singer and formal vocalist from the girl group Fifth Harmony has officially made her solo album debut. Normani parted way with the group in 2018 and almost immediately began her solo career. She followed up with single such as “Motivation” in 2019 and “ Wild Side” featuring Cardi B in 2021. In April, she revealed the official release date for the project after high anticipation for several years.
Normani showcases her versatility throughout the album. She seamlessly blends genre’s such as Pop, R&B, and Hip-Hop. She pays homage to her Texas upbringing with her single “Still” which samples “Still Tippin” by Mike Jones. In April, she shared the album’s first single “1:59” featuring Gunna. She followed up with her official release of the single “Candy Paint” in which fans rooted for it’s release on this project. Normani also includes her 2021 highly acclaimed single “Wild Side” featuring Cardi B as the album’s closing track. Additionally, the album includes more features from Starrah and James Blake.
