Sydney Ruth, a rising star hailing from Mullica Hill, NJ, and now based in Philly, has recently stepped into the spotlight with her debut single, “All I’ve Ever Known.” Reflecting on her journey and inspirations, Sydney Ruth shared her thoughts with Remixd Magazine. Specifically, she opened up about her music and what drives her creativity.
Describing her sound as “alt or indie pop with a warm vibe,” Sydney Ruth emphasizes honesty in her lyrics. In addition, she features lush production that highlights her vocals and harmonies. As she puts it, “My sound is definitely pop, but I would call it more of an alt or indie pop. It has a warm vibe to it with super honest lyrics that are engulfed in a lush production. Layering in lots of harmonies and an emphasis on vocals.”
However, inspired by personal experiences and emotions, Sydney Ruth draws from her own feelings to craft deeply relatable songs. “My writing is inspired by my own feelings & experiences,” she told Remixd Magazine. “I tend to write my best songs when I’m suuuuuper sad or feeling a lot of emotions,” she explains. This approach, she believes, produces raw and honest lyrics that resonate deeply with listeners.
Sydney Ruth on her influences
Furthermore, citing influences such as Maggie Rogers, Adele, and Gracie Abrams, Sydney Ruth’s music is a blend of personal storytelling and melodic richness. Her debut single, “All I’ve Ever Known,” released on June 3rd, 2024, explores the complexities of relationships. “This song was inspired by an internal conflict that I was having about a close relationship in my life at the time,” she reveals. “Even though I loved this person so much, I knew our relationship wasn’t healthy anymore.”
Moreover, looking ahead, Sydney Ruth teases more music on the horizon, including another single and a full EP later in the year. “The next single is pretty different from the other songs on the EP but it’s one of my favorites,” she hints.
Ultimately, Sydney Ruth hopes her music resonates with listeners on a personal level. “I hope people simply enjoy it,” she says. “I hope the lyrics resonate with those that may be experiencing something similar and that they feel seen.”

Kendrick Lamar has done it again. On Thursday, he released the highly anticipated music video for “Not Like Us.” In case you haven’t noticed, not like us has already had quite the run since its release. Last month, Kendrick’s “Ken and Friends” pop out concert show took place when he performed the song 6 times. As if that isn’t already a “6 God” reference within it self, Kendrick continues to experiment with his word play in the “Not Like Us” visual. Here are the Top 5 hidden gems in the “Not Like Us” visual.
Kendrick Lamar foreshadows “Dark Lane Demo Tapes”
Kendrick starts out with a bang. With this reference you may or may not have caught automatically. During this scene, Kendrick is seen in an almost altercation with a mysterious man while the mysterious man never touches him. Immediately, he is swept away leaving Kendrick untouched. This scene references a scene in Drake’s “Family Matters” video. It also closely resembles Drake’s 2020 album cover for the album “Dark Lane Demo Tapes.”
A-Minor Hopscotch
This reference highlights one of the most popular bars within “Not Like Us.” For this scene, Kendrick Lamar takes a crip walk across a game of hop scotch. While one may note this as childhood nostalgia, Kendrick is taking shots at Drake’s alleged involvement with younger girls. Earlier this year a video resurfaced online of Drake performing in 2010 where he invited a young fan on stage who happened to be 17 years old. In May, Tia Jayed identified herself via Instagram as the girl in the video while debunking any inappropriate conduct between her and Drake during that performance.
Kendrick Lamar drops and gives us 50
This reference is the most self explanatory. Kendrick is seen isolated doing pushups on a pair of cinder blocks. He is responding to Drake’s “Push Ups” Diss track. The song also holds lyrics stating “Drop and give me 50.” Kendrick does just that with ease.
The Family Matters
Kendrick Lamar brings it back home with this reference. In this scene highlights his family as he includes his Fiancé Whitney Alford and their two precious children. This scene responds to Drake’s “Family Matters” diss to Kendrick where he alleges Kendrick being the father of only one of his two children. “I heard one of them Lil Kids might be Dave Free,” Drake alleged. Kendrick also responded by including Dave Free as co-director of the music video.
The Owl becomes the Caged Bird
In conclusion, the last of the five hidden gems may be the most noticeable of them all. Kendrick Lamar is featured holding an owl prior to placing him in his cage. This reference calls out Drake’s Ovo brand. The logo’s owl has become one of the most recognizable modern day Hip-Hop brands overall. Kendrick is seen placing the owl back into the cage before walking away. Additionally, this scene pulls a deeper meaning. Maya Angelo’s 1969 novel “I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings” also holds weight in this scene. In terms of Drake, this signals him potentially sticking to his element which includes singing. Kendrick maintains control as the bird is now in the cage. What is your favorite reference in this video?
Remixd Magazine’s best new songs this week include some heavy hitters. From Eminem‘s “Tobey” to Ken Carson‘s “more chaos,” our picks of the week are sure to be songs you’ll add to your rotation.
Read our selections below:
Eminem – “Tobey (feat. BabyTron and Big Sean)”
Serving as a single off his forthcoming album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), Eminem’s “Tobey (feat. BabyTron and Big Sean)” finds the three Detroit rhymers taking pride in their certified G.O.A.T status. Comparing their powerful gift of gab to Spider-Man’s very own Toby Maguire getting bit by an Araneus Oscorpeus, Em, Sean Don, and BabyTron drop some flex-worthy bars about their prominence, luxurious lifestyle, and much more.
Eminem asks explicitly for his rightful flowers after discovering that mediocre rappers have taken the top spot for blog-curated lists. “Ain’t feelin’ your top five favorite rappers/So I know they ’bout to be pissed at me,” he raps. “But this, to me, is a mystery/How rappers I’ve already ripped could be.”
The rappers also forewarn the opps not to try their luck when trying to beat them. In other instances of the song, the trio MCs reflect on their come-up. The song ends with recognition for each other’s untouchable rap prowess. Em raps “Way beyond crazy, Shady gone, but hey, maybe I am the goat.” He continues: “That bit Sean and BabyTron, and that’s why they be on the s**t they be on.”
Fabolous – “To the Moon (feat. French Montana and Fivio Foreign)”
Fabolous links up with French Montana and Fivio Foreign for their new spine-chilling trap song “To the Moon.” This collaborative effort sees the three rappers expressing the qualities they look for in a partner. Similarly, French Montana, Fabolous, and Fivio Foreign list the things that will make them take someone special to the moon.
Once Fabolous hops on the mic, he says although he’s looking for his better half, he’s enjoying the single life. Meanwhile, Fivio Foreign details how he’d be the perfect man for the right woman in his corner. French Montana matches the two New York MC’s energy by alluding that he’ll give his woman what she truly wants. “She said plea ain’t nothing here for free/You could buy her what she wants/Not what she needs,” he raps.
“I’m in love with the box/I’mma take her to the top,” he continues. “I just need a bad b***h/That’s gon be loyal like The Lox.” The rapper’s new single comes one month before his highly anticipated Gotta See It to Believe It tour.
Quavo – “Tough (feat. Lana Del Rey)”
Quavo and Lana Del Rey’s “Tough” is a powerful anthem that highlights their resilience. Over the hypnotic alternative pop beat, the former Migos member and the Born to Die singer reflect on the obstacles they overcame as individuals. “Like the 808s beatin’ in the trunk in Atlanta, it was tough/It was kinda hard for me,” Quavo raps. “Standin’ through the storm, still shinin’ like a diamond in the rough.” Once the pre-chorus comes in, the Georgia rhymer advises listeners always to find light in the darkness and how important it is to stay close to your family. Lana Del Rey matches the uplifting theme of the song in an ethereal intonation by comparing others’ strength during tough times to things like “the scuff on a pair of old leather boots” or “the stuff in your grandpa’s glass,” to name a few.
Childish Gambino – “Lithonia”
Childish Gambino’s minimalistic rock meets rap single “Lithonia” examines the fictional character Cody LaRae, who discovers that time waits for no one. In a storytelling cadence, the Bando Stone & the New World artist reveals the hard truth about society, insinuating that in this day and age, it’s every man for himself. Once the chorus comes in, Childish Gambino takes on the role of Cody LaRae, who addresses those passing judgment since he returned from a hiatus.
Although he feels “liberated” and “over-medicated,” he’s aware that some people aren’t pleased with his disappearance. “Damn, what you want?/I can tell by the look on your face,” Childish Gambino delivers. “Let me outta here/I’ve been gone so long/Don’t you know that/This is the moment?/You’re watching us throw it away.” Before the song ends, Childish Gambino shares that Cody LaRae has learned that his time off didn’t heavily impact others. In the words of Donald Glover, “He had a break/He’s findin’ out/That nobody gives a f**k.”
Ken Carson – “more chaos”
Ken Carson declares that he’s creating “more chaos” in his new video-game-esque trap single. In three minutes, the Opium artist drops braggadocious bars about running up a bag, his charm, and fighting back the opps. While using a melodic flow, he raps, “Pack-a-Punch my gun/I pull the Ray out/I ride in the Rolls Royce truck, got the stars in this b***h.” Elsewhere, Ken Carson spits, “I f**k the check up, get it back, that’s how it goes/I put the racks up to save it for a rainy day/All these b***hes the same, all these h*es the same way/I just got her number/Bet I f**ked the same day.” Ken Carson’s new LP A Great Chaos (Deluxe) featuresthe hit songs “Jennifer’s Body” and “Fighting My Demons.”
Jay Park – “McNasty”
Korean-American rapper Jay Park searches for someone to match his freak in “McNasty.” As the beat merges playful trap, EDM, and pop arrangements, Jay Park delivers suggestive rhymes about wanting a lady in the streets but a freak in the sheets. He raps, “I’m usually a gentleman/But if you want tonight, I can be your bad boy/In conversations be polite/But in bed, I want to see your attitude.” By the second verse, he compliments his admirer before explaining why other couples can’t match their vibe. Lyrics like “Your every move is a scene of perfection/Can’t miss a second so I’m dialed in” and “Still they ain’t fuckin’** with us (Uh)/WONSOJU by the bottle, take a cup and pop up/Attack with them hips, let the vibes flow,” take the narrative home.
Uh oh, is it possible that Ice Spice has found her munch in Central Cee? The hip-hop world has recently been buzzing with rumors making them a trending topic. These two rising rap superstars have been making noise not just for their music, but also for their seemingly budding romance.
Spotting the stars in London
Adding fuel to the rumor mill, the “Phat Butt” femcee and “BAND4BAND” rhymer were recently spotted shopping together in London . On July 3rd, clips and photos flooded the internet of the two leaving a high-end fashion store in the city, surrounded by bodyguards. The sighting has fans and followers curious as to the nature of their relationship, and if this is the man Ice has been speaking on dating… Could it be a casual shopping trip between two artists who are friends, or is there something more?
Is Ice Spice and Central Cee a budding romance or just Hip Hop hype?
The thing is, the shopping trip didn’t stop at fashion stores. The duo was also seen checking out jewelry and riding around in a white Lamborghini SUV. Social media posts from both artists’ stories, showing them cruising through the streets of London, have only heightened the hype. Although they posted videos separately, fans quickly connected the dots, hinting at even more speculation about their relationship status.
The shopping trip
To most, the high-end shopping trip in London was more than just a casual outing. Fans couldn’t help but notice the chemistry between the two as they chatted and laughed together. It wasn’t just casual small talk; they seemed genuinely comfortable and happy in each other’s company. This public display and interaction has led to questions about the true depth of their relationship.
Also, shopping for jewelry together, serves as a significant gesture in any relationship. Which has further fueled rumors. Jewelry shopping is often seen as a couple’s activity, and the white Lamborghini SUV they were seen riding in only adds to the lavish lifestyle the two seem to enjoy together. So, was this just a friendly outing, or was it a date?
The rumor mill is swirling!
Rumors began swirling earlier this year when Ice Spice and Central Cee were spotted in the studio together. Fans couldn’t help but comment on how “cute” the transatlantic duo looked. Their chemistry was evident, sparking rumors of a romance back then. Although they have yet to release any music together, the thought alone has fans excited.
As mentioned earlier, Ice Spice confirmed last year that she was “dating someone,” but she kept the identity of her partner under wraps. She emphasized that she wanted fans to focus on her music rather than her personal life. This mysterious stance has led to various rumors, one of which suggests that her close collaborator RiotUSA could be the mystery man. RiotUSA has produced many of her hits, including “Munch (Feelin’ U)”, “Princess Diana”, and “In Ha Mood”.
On the other hand, Central Cee was in a public relationship with social media influencer Madeline Argy since 2022 at the time. However, the couple was rumored to have taken a break last year. Since, fans have been waiting to see him paired with Ice Spice, hoping they become hip-hop’s newest power couple. Their friendly interactions and public appearances have only added to the rumored relationship.
Central Cee has spoken highly of Ice Spice in interviews, also adding more fuel to the fire. In a 2023 interview with Complex, he mentioned how she reminded him of himself. He appreciated her humble and down-to-earth personality, qualities he values. His admiration for her extends not only to her music, but the strategic moves she makes in her career as well. This mutual respect has fans wondering if there’s more than just friendship between them.
Collaboration hints from Central Cee and Ice Spice
Maintaining musical momentum, Central Cee has hinted that Ice Spice is the only peer he’s interested in collaborating with. This statement has fans anxiously anticipating new music from the dynamic duo. Ice Spice has also teased a new and exciting project with Central Cee, although they’re waiting for the right moment to drop it. The potential for a collaboration only adds to the excitement surrounding their relationship. A trendy track from these two Hip-Hop hitmakers will just be the icing on the cake!
Their mutual admiration and respect make them ideal collaborators. Fans are excited to see what they can create together. Whether it’s a remix or an entirely new track, the collaboration is highly anticipated. The wait only adds to the excitement, keeping fans engaged and invested in their relationship.
For now, all that we can do is wait and enjoy the ride. Whether they drop new music together or make more public appearances, one thing is for sure – Ice Spice and Central Cee are a duo worth watching. Stay tuned here at REMIXD Magazine more updates, and who knows, maybe we’ll get that long-awaited collaboration sooner than later.
