London-based artist Sophia Grover debuts with emotionally rich track “Try Find Me”

Sophia Grover

Emerging from London’s alternative pop scene, Sophia Grover—a philosophy student currently based in Edinburgh—unveils her debut track, “Try Find Me,” the first release from her forthcoming EP Enigma. Balancing her studies at the University of Edinburgh with her music, Sophia’s voice blends storytelling to reflect the depth and complexity of youth.

“Try Find Me” embodies Sophia’s signature sound. Intimate, evocative vocals layered over electronic synths and bass, producing a catchy yet emotive track that encapsulates the thrill of youthful exploration. Sophia describes her music as a mirror to her life, channeling moments of exhilaration and personal reflection. “I use music as a therapy or a way to express a story, even an emotion,” she says. “The power to create and feel is why I’m so passionate about music.”

With Enigma, Sophia aims to explore a broad soundscape that promises to resonate with a diverse audience. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Damon Albarn, Thom Yorke, and Pink Floyd, she crafts her music with a similar emotional intensity while venturing into pop influences reminiscent of Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Billie Eilish. This unique blend offers listeners an alternative approach to pop, characterized by authenticity and vulnerability.

Sophia Grover releases new music

Enigma—set for full release by summer 2025—will showcase Sophia’s genre-fluid approach. Each track dives into different sonic territories, including Indian electronic elements, saxophone-driven ballads, orchestral strings, and indie rock. This eclectic collection, she explains, mirrors the experience of navigating her teenage years and the search for identity. “You can never quite understand who you are or which song represents you best,” Sophia reflects. Emphasizing that each track on the EP portrays a different version of herself.

Moreover, beyond the musical landscape, Sophia’s message to her listeners is clear: “Don’t just listen to the tracks, really feel them. Music is an escape. Use it how you want to, but remember to feel.” Encouraging fans to connect with her music on a personal level, Sophia hopes Enigma will inspire reflection and emotional engagement.

However, stay tuned for more from Sophia Grover on her social media channels, where she’ll be teasing unreleased material in the coming months. Follow her on Instagram and TikTok to keep up with this rising artist’s journey.

Interview: J.R.Clark is defining success on his own terms with ‘All Business, No Luv’

J.R.Clark

Independent artist J.R.Clark (@j.r.clark829) redefining hip-hop success on his own terms, drawing on a background that stretches from studio engineering to military service. Known for his technical precision and business-minded approach, Clark has built a name without major label backing, capturing his ethos of resilience, financial independence, and dedication to quality in his latest project, All Business, No Luv.

Clark’s journey started early. Growing up in Virginia, he was already setting up his own recording studio in his father’s office as a teenager, teaching himself to record and mix from scratch. “Back in 2006, there wasn’t any YouTube to reference; everything was by ear and feel,” he explains to Remixd Magazine. Moreover, throughout his community college days, he recorded local talent across Virginia’s Tidewater region, refining an ear for sound and a technical expertise that would shape his career. But seeking more stability, he joined the Army while completing his undergraduate degree, a decision he says brought discipline and business acumen. “Going to college and serving in the Army gave me a better sense of how the world works and how business ventures should be approached,” he says.

J.R.Clark – “Independent Flex” Music Video

That strategic mindset has proven crucial as he navigates the music industry independently. Clark’s recent single, “The Re-Up,” a collaboration with Fendi P of Jet Life Records, highlights his ability to reach regional fanbases across Virginia and New Orleans. “That track just happened out of thin air,” he shares. “Collaborating with Fendi felt natural. It was all business.”

While he enjoys the creative freedom of being independent, Clark acknowledges the challenges it brings. “I truly enjoy the freedom of being an independent artist because I do not have to try to fit in by mimicking what’s already out and popping on the radio,” he explains. “I don’t have to focus on first-week sales, but missing out on major editorial playlists is a drawback.” Instead, he emphasizes direct-to-consumer sales through his website, maintaining ownership and connecting directly with fans.

Moreover, he’s inspired by artists like Rick Ross, Curren$y, J.Cole, and Nipsey Hussle, Clark embraces authenticity in his music. All Business, No Luv, which took two years to complete, reflects his values and journey, balancing his career with the recent birth of his first child. “Success takes time; you can’t cut corners on your path to the top,” he explains.

Furthermore, as a former studio engineer, Clark prides himself on his meticulously curated home studio. “Good music isn’t made with low-budget gear,” he insists, relying on high-end equipment to ensure professional-grade sound. Thus, this commitment to quality has earned him respect as both an artist and producer, proving that independence in hip-hop isn’t just possible. It’s powerful.

Overall, J.R.Clark is someone to be on the lookout for this year. Be sure to stream his newest album below.
