J. Cole announces the return of Dreamville Festival to Raleigh in 2025

J. Cole's Dreamville Festival

Dreamville Festival is officially set to return to Raleigh, North Carolina, on April 5-6, 2025, marking its fifth anniversary. Founded by J. Cole, the event has become a staple in the music world, bringing fans from all 50 states and over 20 countries to Dorothea Dix Park for two days of unforgettable performances and community celebration.

The festival’s presale tickets go live on Wednesday, December 11, at 9:00 a.m. EST, with options including general admission, GA+, and VIP packages.

Redemption Takes Center Stage

Dreamville Festival has always been more than performances—it’s a stage for cultural moments. One of the most controversial moments in its history occurred in 2024 when J. Cole publicly apologized to Kendrick Lamar during his headlining set.

Reflecting on his diss track “7 Minute Drill,” Cole told the crowd:

“That s–t don’t sit right with my spirit. That s–t disrupts my f–king peace… What I want to say right here tonight is… how many people think Kendrick Lamar is one of the greatest motherf–kers to ever touch a f—ing microphone? Dreamville, y’all love Kendrick Lamar, correct? As do I.”

He continued to take accountability for his actions:

“That was the lamest, goofiest s–t… I pray that my n—a really didn’t feel no way and if he did, my n—a, I got my chin out. Take your best shot, I’ma take that s–t on the chin boy, do what you do. All good. It’s love.”

J. Cole removed “7 Minute Drill” from streaming services following his statements, reflecting his artistic growth and respect for Kendrick Lamar. This also showcases the festival’s commitment to fostering connection and positive resolutions within the music community.

Dreamville Festival’s Legacy

Since its debut in 2018, Dreamville Festival has grown into a cultural phenomenon, featuring performances from some of the biggest names in music. The festival’s 2023 iconic moment was undoubtedly when J. Cole and Drake shared the stage, performing their collaborations in a legendary set that was one for the history books. Other headliners in the past have included Usher, SZA, and Burna Boy.

The festival has also faced challenges scheduling setbacks due to severe weather and the pandemic. Since then, the festival has bounced back stronger than ever, creating unforgettable moments that fans continue to cherish.
