Alaskan artist Frío releases new album ‘Cold Hearts and Heated Floors’

Frío

Frío, the rapper originally from East Anchorage, Alaska, is making his mark on the music scene with his latest project. Cold Hearts and Heated Floors dropped on June 29, 2024. Currently based in Seattle, Frío plans to relocate to Phoenix later this month as he continues to expand his artistic reach.

The artist, who initially adopted the stage name Frío during his time playing professional basketball in Michoacan, Mexico, has drawn inspiration from his unique background. “The name stuck with me,” Frío explained to Remixd Magazine. He noted that it reflects both his cool demeanor and his prowess on the court. “It means ‘cold’ in Spanish, and I’ve been told I’m cold at everything I do.”

Frío’s sound is heavily influenced by his father’s New York roots. Thus, he blends East Coast storytelling with a more fluid, contemporary style. After taking a year off from music due to internal team discrepancies, he returned to the scene with renewed purpose and perspective. Partly influenced by a four-month stint in Africa. “The project’s title represents the duality of wanting success and recognizing the hard work required to achieve it,” he said.

Cold Hearts and Heated Floors features a mix of tracks that explore themes of ambition and resilience. The album has already garnered attention. Moreover, Frío stated that he aims to inspire listeners to embrace their struggles and turn them into opportunities. “We all want the finer things in life, but not everyone is willing to get their hands dirty to sustain that lifestyle,” he noted.
