Texas-based artist Amani is redefining the boundaries of hip-hop and rap with his genre-bending sound and introspective lyricism. Drawing inspiration from a diverse range of musical influences, Amani’s journey from New York to Texas has shaped his identity as an artist. Moreover, he infuses his music with a unique blend of cultural experiences and personal insights.
“My artist/stage name is Amani. My real name is Isaac. Amani is my middle name and I chose it because I wanted my artist name to be different but still be a part of me,” he says. “Also, my middle name was chosen/given to me by my mother which also means a lot. With all of that in mind, Amani isn’t some alter ego. But more so stepping into a more empowered and confident version of myself which I express through my music.” This offers a glimpse into the deeply personal significance of his chosen artist name.
Describing his sound as “different,” Amani’s music defies categorization. Furthermore, he seamlessly blends elements of alternative hip-hop, rap, and indie/alternative rock. “It’s likely something you aren’t used to, especially because I make music of multiple different genres and sub-genres because I enjoy listening to various kinds of music,” he explains, highlighting his approach to music production.
Moreover, fueled by a lifelong passion for music, Amani’s creative journey has been shaped by a various musical influences. Ranging from JPEGMAFIA and Nas to Cuco and Tame Impala. “I’ve been passionate about music ever since a young age. My mother taught me how to play the piano. And I would take music lessons and classes and even consumed large amounts of classical music,” he reflects.
Furthermore, his debut album, ENIGMA, released on March 29th, 2024, under his self-owned record label, Amani Hiphop LLC, is a testament to his artistic vision and creative ability. Inspired by experimental albums like Yeezus by Ye and Scaring the Hoes by JPEGMAFIA, ENIGMA explores themes of self-discovery and introspection.
“ENIGMA is really about myself. I see myself as an enigma, often hard to figure out and understand. I figured that the album itself would be an enigma to other people since alternative or experimental hip-hop/rap isn’t really something I’ve seen my peers listen to,” Amani explains.

Looking ahead, Amani teases upcoming projects that promise to further showcase his versatility as an artist. “In the Summer of 2024, I hope to drop another rap project but this time it would be one that sounds more familiar to consumers of hip-hop/rap,” he reveals.
Through his music, Amani hopes to inspire others to embrace their creativity and pursue their artistic passions fearlessly. “I want my fans to create what they truly want to create and to not let any outside thoughts or opinions cloud your judgment or creative processes when it comes to releasing music,” he asserts.
