Amirah is quickly proving she’s not just another R&B newcomer. She’s a storyteller in real time. The 19-year-old singer has just released her new single “brain,” produced by GRAMMY-winning hitmaker Mustard, and it’s easily her most polished record yet.
Built on a warm groove,“brain” puts Amirah’s soft, honey-coated vocals front and center as she wrestles with the kind of love that takes over your mind before you even realize it. “You got one job / Make me not want to leave you alone,” she sings with breathy honesty, floating between temptation and surrender. Her delivery is so smooth you barely notice how direct the lyrics are. Until you realize she’s saying everything you’ve thought but never said out loud.
“brain” follows her previous single “i can’t,” another emotionally transparent track that captured the frustration of unbalanced love. Where “i can’t” was guarded and uncertain, “brain” leans in. Soft, seductive, and unafraid to admit when someone’s got a hold on you.
Amirah first caught ears with her debut EP Wish It Wasn’t You (2024) under Mustard’s 10 Summers label, offering a glimpse into young love from a refreshingly self-aware perspective. With every release since, she’s tightened her songwriting, sharpened her tone, and leaned deeper into a blend of R&B, pop, and bedroom soul that feels entirely her own.
If “brain” is any indication, Amirah is stepping into her identity with full clarity. And she’s doing it one intimate confession at a time.
