Connecticut-based artist Ayminor is back with her second EP, Tyme Control, which dropped on October 4, 2024. With her blend of R&B and pop, Ayminor continues to evolve as an artist. She blends 2000s pop influences with a contemporary sound. The EP reflects her artistic growth and her ongoing exploration of themes around time, resilience, and self-discovery.
As far as her artist name, she says it’s rooted in her college days. ” I had a radio show in college called Songs In Ayminor, a play on Alicia Keys’s debut album Songs In A Minor. I used ‘Ayminor,’ because my nickname in my college acapella group was “Ay.” When I decided to start releasing music, I decided to shorten it and use Ayminor.”
The title Tyme Control is a metaphor for the artist’s struggle to grasp time’s fleeting nature. “It was me coming to terms with the fact that we can’t control it at all, but you can try to make the most of it,” Ayminor explains to Remixd Magazine. The title track captures this journey, asking the deep question of what it means to make the most of time.
Moreover, in this new project, Ayminor continues to build on the foundation she laid with her debut EP, Tyme Machine. She pushes her artistry forward by incorporating fresh sounds, collaborations, and new themes while staying true to her storytelling roots. Moreover, her voice and songwriting are at the forefront of the project. She carries messages of love, heartbreak, and the quest for self-understanding.
“I want my music to help people feel understood and seen in their experiences of love, heartbreak, and rediscovery,” she shares. Ayminor’s sound is distinctive. Holding it down for the altos while blending catchy pop hooks, layers of harmonies, and a bridge that makes her songs feel complete.
Fans can catch Ayminor promoting the EP with upcoming performances and a series of behind-the-scenes content on YouTube titled Tyme Control The Series. Expect remixes and a music video in early 2025.
