Atlanta’s rap scene has no shortage of stories, but few artists carry the legacy, resilience and bounce-back resolve of Southside native Mykko Montana. Over a decade since shaking up the streets with his 2012 breakout single “Do It” featuring K Camp, Mykko is once again lighting up playlists and party floors with a brand new single entitled “Brian Pumper.”
Known for his raw, witty bars and signature freestyle energy, Mykko is currently riding high with well over 118,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. His long-standing catalog includes Rich Chocolate (2018), No Stylist and No Stylist Deluxe (both 2021), and the recent Double M (2023)—all proof that the man hasn’t lost a step.
Add collaborations with heavyweights such as Young Thug and Gunna and Young Dro it’s clear that Mykko isn’t just revisiting his moment, he’s reimagining it.
With “Brian Pumper” Mykko leans fully into a wild, catchy concept that doubles down on personality and punchlines.
“I really rap about my life, my everyday living,” Mykko Montana explains. “I love what I rap about and I put it in my art of music. It took me under 45 mins to record this record—in and out, no writing!”
One standout line from the track already has fans talking.
“‘Send my girl to Rumors so she can shake her ass and titties yeahhhhh’—umm it’s just. Tru story lol,” he admits while revealing it’s his favorite bar from the song while laughing.
Beyond the punchlines and party vibes, “Brian Pumper” marks a creative turning point.
“It means a lot because it’s part of my new craft of how I create my music,” Mykko says. “I actually enjoyed creating this record.”
While many artists cite influences or trends that guide their sound, Mykko insists his process was more organic this time around.
“It was fun, catchy and actually exciting to see me create and come up with these unique titles,” he says.
“Not at all,” he adds when asked if other artists inspired the record—though he made sure to shout out “my dawg Alex Huncho,” the producer behind the record.
And while we’re on the topic of production, the instrumental supporting “Brian Pumper” is as unfiltered and creatively incendiary as the lyrics.
“He from overseas, I work hand to hand with him,” Mykko says of the song’s producer. “Great producer, he know how to create my sound.”
Looking ahead, Mykko is all gas, no brakes.
“I want to continue to release more heat,” he says, nodding to the momentum he’s been building across his recent releases.
Of course, the hustle doesn’t stop at the mic. Mykko is quick to shout out the independent team behind him.
“All glory be to God. Fly or Crash. Shoutout to my team,” he says. “I offer a lot, even past music—I’m a renaissance man. It’s all independent, got a tight team I work close with, I’m thankful for them all.”
As Mykko Montana reloads with “Brian Pumper” and a new wave of infectious energy, one thing is clear — Atlanta’s own comeback star is back in his bag and ready for the next chapter.
