New Music Friday: The best new songs that dropped this week

best new songs

RemixdMag’s best new songs this week include some confident bangers. This very list contains a perfect amount of records that will make you love the skin that you’re in. From Megan Thee Stallion‘s “HISS” to Zach Zoya‘s “Rich N Pretty,” our selection pushes you to always show up as the best version of yourself.

Read our selection below:

Megan Thee Stallion – “HISS”

Megan Thee Stallion gets “everything off her chest and lays it to rest” in her new single “HISS.” The aggressive Bankroll Got It-produced trap cut addresses the critics and haters slandering her name. Without hesitation, the Texas rapstress exposes others who mention her for click bait, suitors who are looking to spin the block, and women who are talking bad about her because they’re secretly envious. Similarly, Megan Thee Stallion showcases her confidence. Lyrics like “Still goin’ hard with the odds against me (Odds against me)/These n***as don’t have fans, they bots (No)/These b***hes don’t have a*s, they shots (Yeah)/And they still tuned in if they fans or not,” bring the narrative home.

Meg also seems to diss Nicki Minaj with the following lyrics “These hoes don’t be mad at Megan, these hoes mad at Megan’s Law,” because Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, is a registered sex offender. Megan’s Law is a law in the United States that requires law enforcement to make information available to the public about registered sex offenders. After getting word about the apparent jab, Nicki Minaj went on X, formerly known as Twitter, and seemingly responded to Megan Thee Stallion by comparing their accolades. The Queen of Hip-Hop also shared a snippet of her supposed diss against the “Hot Girl Summer” rapper on Instagram.

Ice Spice – “Think U The S**t (Fart)”

Ice Spice humbles the females that smell themselves too much in her song “Think U The S**t (Fart).” As the video game-esque Riot-produced beat sounds off, Ice Spice explains why she’s incomparable, rapping “B***h, I’m a brand (Like)/B***h, I’m a baddie, I get what I want (Damn),” and “His b***h at home playin’ dress-up (Huh?)/She must’ve thought she could catch up (Grrah)/I got my foot on they necks, I can’t let up (Grrah)/She all on the floor, told her get up (Get up).”

As the song continues, the Bronx femcee details her charm, beauty, and rap prowess, implying that she’s one in a million. For instance, she spits “I’d lose anything before my man/I’m a pretty bitch, I don’t like fightin’/On the beat, I’m goin’ Super Saiyan.” Ice Spice teased her newest single earlier this month by posting a short snippet on her social media with an image/meme featuring Nintendo character Mario.

Saweetie – “Immortal Freestyle”

Saweetie spits confident-ridden bars off the dome in her latest “Immortal Freestyle.” Over the dark trap beat, the “Do It for the Bay” artist raps about being doubted, leaving no crumbs, and females who hate on her for no reason. Additionally, Saweetie drops rhymes about her success and “taking s**t over before it’s time to run it back.” Themes about her charm and prominence also come into play. “I just got a jumbo, double flap, bag from Chanel/And I’m grade A, but haters wanna see me fail/It’s in me, not on me, I’m married to the game/For real, huh, but, f**k it, let me take my time/Like the DMV, I make you n***as wait in line,” she delivers. Saweetie initially teased “Immortal Freestyle” sometime last week via Instagram with a snippet of the music video.

Zach Zoya – “Rich N Pretty”

Over a happy-go-lucky hip-hop beat, Zach Zoya raps about settling down for that special someone in “Rich N Pretty.” Once the guitar loop and lo-fi arrangements come in, Zach Zoya drops some transparent lyrics. He raps about a casual relationship that ends up becoming serious as their feelings become more involved. “It was superficial first but, it’s feelings now/I still make sure no one heard me, I like secrets now,” he raps. “I got barely enough to give you, getting myself into/Sentimental issues again.” In “Rich N Pretty,” Zach Zoya highlights his confidence, spitting, “F***ed up down Rodeo Drive. Everyone around me rich and pretty/I would like to thank my mom and dad for making me handsome.” Although his special someone is a hot commodity, Zach Zoya knows he has her attention/heart. “She in high demand, no-s**t Sherlock/Everywhere she go, that shit gridlocked/Trying to scratch/That baddie off my wishlist/Pickup lines all copy-pasted,” he raps.

Lily Massie – “So Good (feat. Amanda Perez)”

Lily Massie intends to love on a girl the right way in “So Good (feat. Amanda Perez).” In the sensual R&B beat offering, Lily Massie and Amanda Perez use silhouette-like vocals to express how they’ll “love a woman’s body down.” Because this person’s partner isn’t doing their part in satisfying them, Lily Massie and Amanda Perez take on the task. Amanda elaborates on how she plans on pleasing this special someone, crooning, “Take you to the room/And do the things he won’t do/I’m a take off your clothes/I’m a show you how this goes/I wanna lay your body down/We can go another round.” On the other hand, Lily Massie lists why they should jump into this romantic rendevous. “Let me show you love/I got you all night/I’m a do everything you like,” she sings.

Asha Imuno – “PHONICS (feat. WESTSIDE BOOGIE and Tempset)”

Asha Imuno. Westside Boogie, and Tempset drops bars about a person who’s got a grip on them via “Phonics.” Over the warm hip-hop offering, the rappers are transparent about their feelings toward someone they admire. Even though the two had a few fall-outs, their bond is stronger than ever. Tempset even spits, “We had a couple of run-ins, a couple setbacks/I wanted you, now you need to get back/It ain’t hard to see that this ain’t that at all/You’re thinking too deep, it ain’t that at all.” As the song continues, the rappers elaborate on their sentiments, implying that trusting someone so easily is hard. One lyric that speaks volumes comes from Westside Boogie who raps “Let you in, I swear this process don’t never end/I’m sure you finna hurt a n***a you love going with the wave.”
