BIA – “Lights Out (feat. JID)“
BIA and JID reflect on their accomplishments while pushing others to chase their dreams in their new single “Lights Out.” Over the pop meets R&B and hip-hop StarGate production, BIA starts her verse and challenges listeners to get out of their comfort zone. She suggests that staying stagnant keeps you in the same position. From there, BIA expresses gratitude for collaborating with J. Cole on “LONDON” before taking pride in the work she put in to be where she is now. “Take my cue to go, I’m moving up/Wasn’t due to luck, this was really owed,” she raps. “I know you from, elementary, really, no we don’t/Lights was out in my mama house, but we used the stove.” The bars also suggest that BIA isn’t entertaining any fake love.
When JID hops on the beat, he thinks back to the hard work he put in to succeed. Like BIA, JID only wants real ones in his inner circle. “I got my top way back and my beat down low/We put so much in the grind ’cause we was on the ground floor,” JID rhymes. “Got a foot inside the game, so now, we kicking down the door/N***as be clowns, you can’t come around no more/On this railroad smoking, but we ain’t underground no more.” BIA’s new single can be found on the soundtrack for Bad Boys: Ride or Die.
