Happy New Music Friday! The weekend is finally here and it’s a ton of fresh music that’s just been released. Earlier this week, we saw surprise drops from various artists, as well as new music from 6LACK, Pharrell, Nardo Wick, and more. Without further ado, let’s dive into the best new songs to tap into!
Cash In Cash Out by Pharrell ft. 21 Savage & Tyler, the Creator
Pharrell establishes the Slaughter Gang and Golf la Fleur connection on his new single “Cash In Cash Out”. Seeing 21 Savage and Tyler, the Creator is an odd pairing for a collaboration, but only Skateboard P can make it somehow come together. The Grammy-award winning rappers fire back verses about the constant paydays atop of a bass-boasted instrumental. 21 and Tyler deliver strong performances on here while Pharrell reminds everyone of his veteran skills on the production. The song is nice warmup as the Something in the Water festival is set to kick off next weekend.
Tread Carefully by SZA
Yesterday, TDE superstar SZA gifted her fans with a deluxe edition of her classic album CTRL. The release is packed with seven previously unreleased songs from the album’s recording sessions. Among them is “Tread Carefully”, a moody jam that deal fighting lust-filled urges in the moment. The production and songwriting is definitely fitting for the album, almost playing like something that could’ve led to “Broken Clocks” if it made the original tracklist. Like the latest collection of songs, “Tread Carefully” is a vibe that her core fan group will definitely receive with open arms.
“I can’t front, I want you bad as you want me too
Can’t front, really want you bad as you want me too
I want you bad as you want me and I bet it’s good
‘Cause you know what you’re doin’, you know what you’re doin'”
UMI Says by 6LACK
Atlanta vocalist 6LACK covers the iconic Mos Def track with his latest release “UMI Says”. The song comes apart of Apple Music’s “Freedom Songs” playlist commemorate this years Juneteenth. Also, the remake marks the first solo material from 6LACK all year. His voice sounds smooth like butter across the relaxing instrumentation as he put his own twist on the 1999 classic.
Riot by Nardo Wick
A year in and Nardo Wick shows that he’s wicked as ever on his new single “Riot”. For the last couple months, the Jacksonville rapper has been hinting at a follow-up of his debut mixtape Who is Nardo Wick? So it’s a possibly that “Riot” will be one of the forthcoming project’s forthcoming singles. The two-minute track is filled with sinister bars that matches the rapper’s menacing rap persona. The dark production is all that Nardo needs to deliver another offering with his signature gloomy sound.
