Big Sean and Jhené Aiko pay tribute to nineties romance films in a new visual for “Body Language”

The romantic, sensual, and nostalgic visual pays homage to Poetic Justice, Waiting to Exhale, Love Jones, and The Best Man.

Big Sean releases a new visual from his album, Detroit 2, which debuted at number one on The Rolling Stone Top 200 Albums chart comes with an extraordinary and sentimental visual, as Big Sean and Jhene Aiko act out moments from classic 90s films. The song features fellow singer Ty Dolla $ign, seen throughout the music video and accompanying the couple’s journey of recreating classic scenes from black romance films.

The music video opens with Big Sean impersonating Laren Tate’s character from Love Jones as Jhene Aiko recreates Nia Long’s famous cab scene later on in the video from the same movie. The music video also pays homage to Poetic Justice, as Big Sean and Jhene Aiko portray some of the late Tupac Shakur and Janet Jackson’s most scenes from that film. The visual also has Jhene Aiko portraying Angela Basset’s character from Waiting to Exhale, where she burns her ex’s car. The last recreation, which is the only scene Ty Dolla $ign mimics another movie in, is a scene influenced by The Best Man, in which he attends a Bachelor party with Big Sean and others.

There are little segments throughout the visual, which show Big Sean and Jhene Aiko cooking sensually with intimate bedroom scenes, and them in a boat surrounded by flowers.
