The topic of men and emotions is traditionally such a taboo one. As men we are taught from a very young age, that showing any form of emotions and expressing ourselves in a vulnerable way is a sign of weakness. However recent studies have shown us that expressing emotions is very important for our mental health and general well being. This continues to be a point of contention in the male community.
Trinidadian artist Braveboy (real name Marcus Braveboy) sheds light on this topic in his latest release, titled “Big Man Don’t Cry”.
The song, produced by fellow T&T native Richard Gosine of Golden Era Productions, blends the international pop/alternative and hip-hop sound with a unique island flavor. The song vividly expresses the male perspective of a breakup scenario and the rollercoaster of emotions that come with it, touching on society’s contrasting view that men aren’t supposed to be emotional.
“Big Man Don’t Cry” is the first single off an upcoming EP that Braveboy is gearing up to release called “Riddim & Blues.”
