Cash Cobain is capitalizing on a “slizzy summer,” with brand new album ‘Play Cash Cobain’

Cash Cobain is making major waves this summer, cementing his status as one of the hottest names in the game right now. Fresh off a trifecta of major accolades—being named an Apple Up Next artist, a 2024 XXL Freshman, and Billboard’s Rookie of the Month—Cash has just dropped his highly-anticipated sophomore album Play Cash Cobain (via Giant Music). Alongside the album, he released a music video for “Act Like,” his long-awaited tribute to Pop Smoke, which made its debut across MTV Live, MTVU, BET Jams, and even lit up the Paramount Times Square billboards. The hype is real, and Cash is riding high.

Cash’s meteoric rise hit another milestone this week when he graced the cover of The New York Times Print Arts Section, where they crowned him as an artist “changing the sound of drill.” The buzz around Play Cash Cobain has been electric, following the release of his last single “Problem,” a 15-person Slizzy mix that featured a who’s-who of rap royalty. The track, nearly 8 minutes of pure heat, leaned on a viral sample from Brooklyn newcomer Laila!’s hit “Not My Problem” and featured heavyweights like Fabolous, Big Sean, Flo Milli, and more. The posse cut was a throwback to the 2000s, a reminder of the days when rap’s biggest stars would unite on a single track.

Cash Cobain: The Slizzy Summer Continues with “Play Cash Cobain”

Play Cash Cobain doesn’t stop there, though. The 19-track album is loaded with marquee features from Quavo, Don Toliver, and Laila!, along with long-time collaborators like Vontee The Singer and Payroll. Crafted during an intense eight-month creative spree, the album captures the energy of late nights, romance, and the essence of his self-coined “Slizzy Summer.”

As if that wasn’t enough, Cash is set to headline his first solo NYC show at the historic Brooklyn Paramount next month, a follow-up to his legendary, if chaotic, ‘Slizzy Fest’ at Irving Plaza. Cash Cobain is ready to take over, and he’s inviting everyone to join the ride. In his own words, “I’m feeling sexy, slizzy— I’m just happy to give y’all this music finally. It’s a Slizzy Summer!”
