Review: Duckwrth brings ‘All American F*ckBoy’ to life at an unforgettable Echoplex show

Duckwrth
The night was filled with surprises.

Duckwrth lit up the Echoplex on Friday night (April 25), bringing an insane amount of energy to his first headline show since 2022. The night marked the start of his All American Freak Show era, celebrating his new album All American F⭐️ckBoy — and he made sure it was a night nobody would forget. Joined by the album’s co-producer BLK ODYSSY (@blkodyssy), along with Sherwyn and King Isis — two defining voices of Black Alternative — Duckwrth curated a night that felt like a true celebration of boundary-pushing music. In case you missed it, Remixd Magazine was in attendance to capture all the action.

From the moment the night started, the energy in the room was electric as fans eagerly waited to see what Duckwrth had in store. First up was King Isis (@itskingisis), a genre-blending alt-pop and afrofuture artist who immediately took command of the stage and captured the crowd’s attention. Following her, Nashville’s own Sherwyn (@shweezed) kept the momentum going, delivering a high-energy set full of funk and rock & roll that amped up the excitement even more.

Next, Duckwrth came out swinging. He rocked a bold, fitted blue leather jumpsuit covered in patches and hardware details. It gave off a futuristic, slightly punk vibe. The outfit was indeed a statement in itself. Furthermore, he was performing songs off AAFB with so much passion you could feel it in your chest.

The album, which dives deep into toxic love, healing, and all the messy in-between stuff, translated perfectly live. It felt like a full-on emotional release. Furthermore, it was clear how BLK ODYSSY brought the sounds of the album to life. The live performance of each song felt like its own moment.

The night was filled with surprises

One of the wildest moments of the night came when Duckwrth brought out a surprise guest — rapper IDK (@idk)— to perform their track “Pitbull.” The crowd completely lost it, and Duckwrth didn’t hold back either. At one point in the night, he even jumped straight into the pit to mosh with fans. It was pure chaos in the best way and fans were definitely enjoying it.

Duckwrth kept the vibe super personal too. He spent a lot of time talking to the crowd, cracking jokes, sharing stories, and just vibing with everyone like it was a big, messy family reunion. You could tell how much it meant to him to be back on stage. And the crowd gave that love right back.

After saying his goodbyes and walking off, the crowd wasn’t ready to end the night. Chanting for more, fans convinced Duckwrth to come back out for an encore. He closed the night with “Hoe Phase,” with everyone shouting along to every word. It was the perfect send-off for a night that felt as raw, real, and reckless as the album itself.

Between the mosh pits, surprise guests, and honest moments, Duckwrth’s Echoplex show was one for the books. We’re excited to see this new era of him, and loved that he’s bringing all of us along for the ride. If this is just the beginning, the All American Freak Show tour is about to be insane.
