Hip-Hop veteran Consequence releases highly-anticipated album ‘Nice Doing Business with You’

Recently this week, hip-hop veteran, Consequence released his highly-anticipated album, Nice Doing Business with You. Dating back to 2022, he has been teasing the release of this album, and that day has finally come. This former Tribe Called Quest member shows that rap’s “Golden Age” days are still alive.

Without sounding snobby, you must be a rap historian to appreciate all of Consequences’ contributions and what he’s done for the culture. How many people can say they’ve written for generational artists like Beyonce & Kanye? Always making moves behind the scenes, this album might be the one that cements him as a solo artist.

Star-Studded Features

Leading the production on this album is longtime collaborator, Kanye West. Throughout the years, they have been instrumental in each other’s careers and have always had each other’s back. It’s very much a full-circle moment to have Kanye play such a big part in this album. Ye truly did his part as a friend by not only lending his talents on the production side but as a featured artist also.

Speaking of features, one of the biggest surprises of this album has to be YNW Melly making an appearance on “Overdose.” This collaboration is so unexpected, yet this unlikely duo still makes it work. If you can look past YNW Melly’s real-life legal troubles, this song has a really positive message to the youth.

Without a doubt, the best part of this the album is Consequence’s superb writing ability. It feels like rappers from his era put so much more effort into their verses and overall song construction. From the advanced wordplay and witty bars, it’s hard to deny that he still has a lot left in the tank.

Despite the tragic end of G.O.O.D. Music, it’s good to see someone like Consequence have his own shining moment. For years, he has been constantly overlooked and looked at as Kanye’s sidekick. Maybe he can have a similar arc to Killer Mike and finally receive his flowers that are well overdue.
