Daniel Payne takes you on a ride to ‘Five Points’ with his new project

Daniel Payne’s new project features appearances from Big K.R.I.T., G Perico, Freddie Gibbs, and is produced by Dj Burn One.

Daniel Payne’s, Five Points, is streaming on all platforms now.

Daniel Payne is a Southern man at heart, heard in his voice and iconic southern hip hop, trap, and soul music, which he classifies as “an updated version of vintage Southern Hip Hop.” Daniel’s music has a slowed down, “laid-back, chill southern player” sound, that mixes a plethora of trap music, “soul music, samples, raw raps and lyricism, singing, harmonies,” creating a nostalgic, introspective, and vintage Southern sound. One thing’s forsure, he can definitely rap and flow and this project serves as a reminder to that.

“I grew up in the deep south so I heard and grew up on all types of Southern hip hop, soul and R&B,” Daniel Payne said in a recent interview with Remixd Magazine. “My sound is definitely influence by Southern hip hop, especially vintage Southern Hip Hop.”

Payne’s latest release, Five Points serves as a testament to his sound — showcasing his talents as well as his versatility as an artist. As one of his best projects to-date, Daniel Payne is bringing the heat this year and showing audiences what he’s really capable of lyrically.

The project was named after the Five Points in Atlanta (an art and music district) where DJ Burn One produces and works and helped with Daniel’s album. Further, the name also has ties with Daniel Payne’s hometown, as that is where Daniel Payne grew up. Daniel is from Five Points West and used to party and get crazy in Five Points South, so it has a dual meaning for Daniel. Five Points comes from his hometown and where he recorded some of his best work to date.

The six-track project has something for everyone to enjoy, including features from Big K.R.I.T., G Perico, and Freddie Gibbs. The album seeps a vintage, old-school Hip Hop sound, and it solidifies Daniel Payne as someone to keep in mind when talking about who is reinventing hip hop.

Daniel’s version of vintage Southern hip hop is mesmerizing as it captivates and takes you elsewhere. Throughout standout track “Bond,” Daniel Payne creates hypnotic refrains and beats, mixing different vocals that creates a truly unique experience.

With other such hit tracks like “Royalty,” featuring Big K.R.I.T., “Benz,” starring G Perico, “Bond,” and an outspoken southside narrative with his song,”Let Me Ride,” featuring Freddie Gibbs, Daniel’s Five Points album is a must-listen.
