Most notably, Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” has taken the Internet by storm, and has had fans declaring him as the champion of the beef. Recently, DJ Akademiks chimed in with his own remarks, and criticized Lil Yachty for his stance on the situation.
During a discussion on his A Safe Space podcast, Lil Yachty opened up about his respect for both Drake and Kendrick Lamar. This prompted Akademiks to weigh in on the type of friends Drake should surround himself with. Akademiks expressed his belief that Drake needs more “delusional” friends. Meaning, individuals who would unconditionally defend him, even in the face of adversity.

DJ Akademiks says Drake needs more delusional friends
“Yachty, I f**k with you, but I gotta agree with this fan,” Akademiks said. Moreover, this was in reference to a social media individual who was criticizing Yachty for not sticking up more for Drake. “If I’m Drake, I need a delusional friend with me,” Akademiks continued. “I need the friend that I’m mad drunk in the club with and I’m stumbling all over the place and I stepped on somebody’s foot by mistake but then that person shoves me and rather than tryna figure it out like. ‘Oh, actually you stepped on his foot first,’ my delusional friend just comes over my shoulder with a punch. ‘Why the f**k you touching Ak?!’ I’ma keep it a bean, Drake needs one of those.”
Drawing on a hypothetical scenario of a nightclub altercation, Akademiks painted a picture of a loyal friend who would rush to Drake’s defense without hesitation.
