Rapper DrexTheJoint on his new EP ‘The One Who Did’ hitting 1.2 million streams

DrexTheJoint

DrexTheJoint (@DrexTheJoint) is a 19-year-old Mexican rapper from Santa Ana, California and he is officially on the map. His latest project, The One Who Did, dropped on January 10 and has already racked up over 1.2 million streams across platforms. If you’re not already tuned in, it’s time to catch up—this young artist is proving that his rise is one to watch.

The 15-track EP is a reflection of his life, filled with raw stories from his hometown of Santa Ana, where he reps hard and makes no apologies for it. With features from artists like Heembeezy, Rowdy Racks, and Mike Sherm, The One Who Did showcases DrexTheJoint’s unique ability to blend West Coast vibes with his personal brand of storytelling that hits deep.

“There hasn’t been anybody in Orange County who has done it like me,” DrexTheJoint says with confidence. “Somebody who reps the city and county so hard without having to claim LA.” It’s a bold statement, but honestly, when you hear the EP, you’ll see exactly where he’s coming from. Drex is all about showing love for his city without trying to fit into the usual LA mold, and that attitude comes across strong on every track.

Growing up in Santa Ana clearly shaped DrexTheJoint’s perspective, and he’s never shy about sharing where he’s been and what he’s been through. “Everything I rap about in my lyrics is everything I’ve been through, seen, or lived in the city I come from,” he shares. You can hear that authenticity in his music, from the beats to the bars, nothing is fake or watered down.

DrexTheJoint gets authentic

Before The One Who Did, DrexTheJoint was already making noise with his viral track “Bounce Out,” which pulled in over 7 million streams. Looking back, he admits, “Honestly, that was one of those songs I wasn’t even going to drop, but in the studio, I just started talking my s–t.” And thank goodness he did because it became a breakout hit. Now, with his new project, DrexTheJoint is proving he’s not just a flash in the pan. He’s here to stay.

Signed to Now & Forever in partnership with Santa Ana Records, DrexTheJoint is continuing to build on that momentum and push boundaries while keeping his authenticity front and center. “I want fans to feel that West Coast sound when they hear me,” he says. And with The One Who Did, that’s exactly what you get—raw, unapologetic, and undeniably West Coast.

But Drex’s year is just getting started. In March 2025, he’ll make his debut at Rolling Loud California, one of the biggest stages in hip-hop. It’s a massive milestone, and if the EP’s success is any indication, he’s going to kill it. Whether you’re already a fan or just getting introduced, one thing is clear: DrexTheJoint’s star is on the rise, and he’s got something to say.
