Fast rising Bay Area royalty Eternal Zion opens up on her upcoming January album

The Oakland muse is brimming to launch her sixth album in under 3 years and unravels all its mysteries

Following a relatively quiet spell in her standards this year, Eternal Zion is preparing to open up the new year in style. Having laid low on sharing a full body of work since mid last year when she spawned Trials and Tribulations, she is shifting the momentum with a project staked for the top of the new year.

If Trials and Tribulations was by any measure a yard stick to gauge, she is looking to evolve her sound into another stratosphere. T&T was indie-rock hinged, melodically appealing and sprawled with some knocking trap beats. EZ took on a more confident stride in her vocal stretches, with cuts like “Distractions” mastering her rapping edge daringly.

But it isn’t just the performing aspect part of her ranging pedigree, she also dabbles as a sound engineer who infuses different frequencies into her music slated to raise higher vibrations through sound and music.

“My sound is very dynamic as far as vocal intensity. I dive into multiple genres and bring out a more alternative sound to it. I also talk about a multitude of topics from spirituality to relationships” she mentions.

Leaning more into an R&B forward sound for her latest project, EZ (pronounced as easy), teased her buttery, soulful and tender number, “You Just Want Love” to entice fans before the January LP. The July single feels emanated from her January-promised album titled, True Colors. Even so, she admits elements of rock are still likely to stand out on the experimental record.

“The current project I am working on is titled True Colors. This project was inspired by my admiration of alternative rock music. I wanted to create an album that people could really relate to. There are songs that bring attention to certain issues like depression, suicide, and relationships” she concedes.

She reveals she wants to talk about topics stigmatized such as mental health and depression. EZ realizes her platform of almost half a million followers across social media can use some positiveity.

“This project is about one’s expression as their true self. Meaning there are thoughts that many of us are afraid to share due to the opinions of others. I thought it would be good to create music that people can relate to when they can’t fully express those feelings. I want people to know they are not alone. That’s what True Colors is all about.”

Having forged a name for herself in the Bay Area as a hometown hero, performing in multiple stages that are idyllic to the Bay, it’s time for EZ to take 2023 by storm with her latest album coming at the top of the year.
