As the year comes to a close, the fall has been calling out for cuffing on to our loved ones. On Florida-heavy rapper Numbas‘ August-released love ballad, the street savvy emcee is all about that love. A slightly unconventional offering from his club anthems and street-emboldened bellows, Numbas shows his more vulnerable edge on “Tell Me” featuring singer Nubez. The cut is a savory, flirtatious take from a street rapper that has ESPN kind of game while courting his love interest.
“She wanna hug me, she wanna love me, she a bad girl, I’m trynna lock it down, she start raindrops on a cloudy day, real nigga blues when she go away” the cutting edge rapper testifies on one of the verses.
Reminiscent of rappers Kodak Black, Plies, Jackboy, or even Gucci Mane and Weezy, Numbas has a strong street persona but is smothering and silky on this cut. There is an air of originality to his brand, and a potent likeability to him. With a Miami-sound reverberating from “Tell Me’, he and Nubez strike an enviable semblance that brings out the best of their qualities. Brooding a 2000’s rap R&B cut, Numbas ruminates clearly worships his muse, Nubez, as the track progresses. Nubez might be the unsung hero with her inviting vocal performance serenading the beat with different octaves giving a steamy and engaging element – perfect for a bedroom sizzler.
On the video, Numbas is flaunting as per a street rapper should; he is gaudy, flamboyant, and really comfortable as he chops his verses in a house-like setting. The video portrays him in a really mafioso and final-boss like character which befits his character – mirroring how a man of his caliber would arouse his lady – stacks of cash, suggestive lingo, and private dinner pleasantries. The performance scenes are also a good condiment to the final result.
