Milwaukee native and genre-blending artist Fordo (@fordomusic) is making a bold entrance into the music world with the release of his debut album, 2001. Named after his birth year, the project is a nostalgic yet forward-looking collection that mixes pop, rap, R&B, and dance, offering a fresh but familiar sound that’s resonating with listeners across generations.
“That mix of rhythm, soul, and storytelling sparked my love for songwriting and pop,” Fordo tells Remixd Magazine. “But the sound I truly fell in love with came from the music I grew up on. Artists like Timbaland, early Usher, Chris Brown, Justin Bieber, Maroon 5, Lady Gaga, and more. That’s where I discovered my own taste and the influences that shape my sound today.“
Each track on the project tells a story rooted in real-life experiences. Including themes of love, heartbreak, growth, and everything in between. “I walk the line between my own vulnerability and confidence,” Fordo continues. “Being born in 2001, that era shaped me and it shows in the music I make.” That influence is clear in the production and melodies, which channel early 2000s energy while keeping the storytelling honest and modern.
The album’s breakout single, “Nobody’s Watching,” produced with acclaimed producer Victor Thell, has already gone viral with over 1.5 million views on TikTok. The song has become an anthem for authenticity, encouraging listeners to embrace who they are without fear of judgment. Fordo’s message is clear: it’s okay to be real, to be messy, to grow.
