Born and raised in New York City, G5 Elz—real name Lawrence—represents his roots proudly while creating music that encompasses opulence and luxury. His name reflects his high-flying ambition, inspired by the sleek Gulfstream G5 jet, with “Elz” being a natural nickname derived from his first name.
When describing his sound, G5 Elz doesn’t hold back. He further describes it as being luxury like a Mercedes-Benz.
“My music feels like the opulence of an S500 Mercedes-Benz,” he tells Remixd Magazine. “Lately, my production has taken on the vibe of an AMG sport package—it’s more aggressive but still smooth and luxurious.” His influences? A blend of iconic moments in music, including 2006 Young Jeezy, 2011 Drake, 2018 A Boogie, and 2015 Future. The result is a style that’s as fresh as it is timeless.
He says music is like a sport for him. His competitive drive fuels his creativity, and that energy is evident in his upcoming album, 880, set to drop in early 2025. Produced entirely by his go-to collaborator Laron, the project was sparked by a late-night photo of Mastro’s in Beverly Hills, with a white Mercedes-Benz speeding through the frame. That image ignited his vision to create music that’s just as captivating.
But he’s not stopping there. G5 Elz is already hard at work on another album, 930, which will explore progressive sounds and darker vibes. His ultimate goal? To inspire his listeners to feel confident, embrace their individuality, and chase the life they’ve always dreamed of. “I didn’t start off with the best hand, but look at me now—all aces,” he says.
