Genia’s musical journey is deeply rooted in inspiration drawn from icons such as Beyoncé, Prince, Michael Jackson, and Janet Jackson. “Witnessing their talent ignited a passion within me early on! It made me believe I could do it too & encouraged me to dream BIG,” she reflects. Drawing inspiration from contemporary artists like Beyoncé, Drake, Rihanna, Aaliyah, and Doja Cat, Genia finds herself in good company as she navigates her own creative path. “There are so many more! But those would be the main ones as of now that I’m really pulling inspo from currently,” she notes, highlighting the diverse influences that shape her music.
Get to know Genia
Discussing her latest project, 4am in the Ville, Genia reveals what inspired it. “This project was honestly inspired by a lot of Drake’s early stuff but mainly his ‘Take Care’ album,” she shares. “I sat back & listened from start to finish. It’s always been one of my faves but I felt revisiting it would help spark some ideas of my own.” “This project explores the emotional journey so many of us experience when loving someone and dealing with the pain caused by that person,” Genia explains, offering a glimpse into the themes that listeners can expect.
Looking ahead, Genia’s aspirations are ambitious yet grounded. “I do hope an album is next! But in the meantime, everyone can definitely expect more singles from me that dig even deeper into who I am musically,” she shares.
For Genia, the ultimate goal is connection. “I hope my fans honestly connect with my project in whatever way they see fit,” she expresses. “I wrote each song for my own specific reasons, but I like to think that each song is universal & can mean different things for different people.”
